Had 3 contractors at home depot going on and on about how awesome the ridgid tools are and how much they love using theirs (but given your use, either one of these will be good) The biggest selling point for me about the ridgid set was that it has a lifetime warranty which includes the batteries.
Ive heard horror stories about service, but in regards to batteries they seem to be much easier to get right. Bring them to a service center or send them in, and get a new battery. Pretty much no questions asked. Actually needing tools fixed seems to be another story, but knock on wood the tools themselves have held up through a lot of use over the years.
That said, if I had to buy another set Id probably look long and hard at the Milwaukee stuff, just because they've developed their "system" a lot better than Ridgid has in regards to additional tools (go on RidgidForum.com and search for cordless grinder to see a lot of angst from Ridgid users)

Should be $160.55 + tax after the latter rebate...and crap if you do not have Discover.

I'd love to buy this deal but my old 19.2V Craftsman drill is still going strong with it's original batteries from 2004. And I use it a lot.
Because it gets me the premium Drill/Driver with two 3.0 ah Max batteries for less than that kit alone. (Two 3.0 ah Max batteries are $129.00 on Amazon and kit is $259 for drill/driver)
And, because, for serious work I would buy (and have bought) the Brushless Impact Driver from Dewalt... That is serious business.
And, this, as others have mentioned, gets me a small 12v driver thrown in for really small spaces (basically at no cost).
And, now I can have serious quality tools with the 'good' batteries to expand my collection, if needed.
Ryobi and Rigid - I have had them. They don't compare, in my opinion and use to Dewalt. Especially the Impact Drive....the tool of all tools
Hope this helps...and hope this doesn't come accross the wrong way. This is my literall validation for my purchase

I will now attempt to read your mind to know what you need your tools for. You either need an impact driver or a compact screw driver. Let us begin.
Mmmm... I see confusion... You... had to ask this question because you are unsure of your purchase. You wonder if an apple would be better than an orange and now question your choice.
If you have to ask this, you probably don't need such a high end tool. Isn't that always what happens at Slickdeals though?
These are great for the professional carpenter and the like who know what they need and will abuse them daily.
See the Ryobi post on the last page.

What order do you click in to get both discover and mrrebate to be applied?
I add to cart first, then click on mrRebate next or Discover next?
Is this the direction dewalt is going in? I dont want to have to upgrade to li-ion in 2 years, you know?

NiCDs are known to pack more of a punch, but their self discharge rate has not been improved over the years and is far to high for my liking.
