Just depends on how much you want to spend and how long you plan on skiing? My advice would be to try out skiing first make sure you like it, and then if you get addicted like I did, then buy a quality jacket. Arcteryx, Patagonia, Mountain Hardware are a just few brands that will last for years to come. This site has some great deals especially with the extra 20% discount.

I bought my jacket and my wife's from steepandcheap.com, and/or departmentofgoods.com. They are both run by the same company the former is a one-deal-at-a-time site and the latter is an outlet for Backcountry.com. Great deals to be had all year round and their customer service and return policies are awesome.
