Ryobi 6" Bench Grinder (BGH6110SB) $25 + Free Store Pickup (expired)

This one is way underpowered.
I was shaving off some rough edges on a piece of aluminum, and I felt if I pressed hard enough I would have stopped it.
But for 25 bucks I'll keep it for now.

Sorry for being off topic, but I wanted to ask how you like the jawhorse? I've been trying to talk myself out of it just b/c i've been on such a buying spree lately (damn you, SD) but i really want one. Have you found that you use it quite a bit?

Hmm... Cleared out my cart, started over and eventually checked out with it at $24.88. Strangely, if I tried to my with paypal, it added $5 to the price. With CC, it went through just fine. Now here's seeing if they'll have one when I go to pick it up next week!

what I did was use an old swamp cooler motor (1/2 hp) and put a drill chuck on the end...I set up some buffing wheels with a bolt and nut through the middle with washers on either side...then I just "chuck" in the buffing wheel that I need, add the rouge to the wheel and buff away...then I can quickly change wheels...I also set up some round grinding stones the same way for lawn mower blades and such....the swamp cooler motors have a lower rpm and are made for running all day long...set up is great for jewelery buffing (just be careful that the stones don't get pulled off).

If so how about like a machete....I use one for work from time to time

Yes, jawhorse is an amazing vice. I have used it to paint chairs (clamp a leg so the chair is up in the air and spray), sharpen mower blades a bunch, planed 4 doors which went very well, and put up a huge birdhouse on a pole by myself among many other smaller projects. Many people found the rigid vice here on SD for $40 which is very similar. That was a screaming price though. i would recommend the jawhorse. I might even bolt this grinder to a piece of plywood and clamp it in to the jawhorse and keep it off the workbench. Thanks for the idea!

I bought one of these 20 year ago. Haven't used it once yet.
