My stores only have the newer model which they say has the same sku as this. The one I picked up does not come with a power cord so you better have an approved extension cord, whatever that means. It also does not feature any rubber on the outside like stated in the description. For 30 bucks big whop but the new model is much cheaper and more plastic than the model in the pics on the website. My store had the old model on the floor charging so I could compare.

So the one I picked up only has two of the five LEDs working and the blue % light is permanently on. Not sure if these issues are because I need to charge it or if I got a bad one. So far this thing does not instill confidence that it will work when I need it. Fingers crossed I just need to charge it and all will be fine.

hey is your blue % light on even if the unit is turned off and not plugged into the wall? Also, how many of your LEDs work? I think mine is at 0% charge and is acting wonky.

Just picked mine up ---- newer model with % display and no extension cord provided. Appeared to have no charge upon opening. Plugged it into the wall with my own extension cord. Pressed the battery charge indicator button and it started flashing "FL%". Then I unplugged the unit from the wall, assuming it had full charge, and the indicator switched to blinking "LO" and then quickly faded out to nothing. Plugged it back in and pressed the battery indicator button. Nothing. I get a green light when I turn the unit to the "ON" position, but nothing happens now when I press the battery indicator button. I've been charging it for about a half hour now. The accessory light can be turned on and the unit appears functional aside from that.

Do I have a broken unit? Is the battery indicator supposed to be working as it is charging (I expect it should)? Anyone else have this problem?

After buying four or five of these from the flea market over the last year for several dollars each, and none of them would hold a charge- I finally broke down and bought a new one. I probably spent close to the final price of this one with all the used ones I bought. I just tried it out on my Dodge Ram which had a completely dead battery- it started it with no problem. One thing I don't like with this one is that there is no automatic charge shut-off. I ruined a couple of these in the past by forgetting to unplug the charger and ended up overcharging the battery and it never held a charge after that.

Maybe I am overly paranoid after ruining a couple previously, but how do you know when it is fully charged? The manual says to charge it after every use for the average charge time of 18-24 hours. It also says that when you do a battery test that when all the LED's are lit up it is 70-100% charged. I can't imagine after one jump start it would need a whole lot of charging, so what do you do, charge it and check it every so often until all the LED's are lit and hope it is closer to the 100% level than the 70% level when they are all lit? I don't know how long it has to stay charging once it is at 100% until the battery gets ruined, but that is the last thing I want to do.

The manual says that the initial charge should be 36 hours, so possibly a half hour isn't that long to verify anything. Also, the manual said that if it stays uncharged for four months or longer it can do permanent damage to the battery. I bought a brand new one from the flea market that I am sure had been sitting for an extended period of time uncharged, and it never would charge. Who knows how long any of these sat on the shelf for, so if I got one that had an uncharged battery, I personally would see if there was another one I could exchange it for that had a charge.

It's something that is only good if you are forgetful. It shuts the battery/car off when the battery gets below 11.7 volts, resting. When you want to start the car, you just tap your brakes, and the unit allows the battery to be used again, and you can start your car. This pack should start your car no problem. You don't need to get it towed or anything, just jump your car off drive to any auto parts store, tell them you want a battery and a free installation. They'll be happy to do it for you.

Thanks. I meant my car won't start up at all though because it's been stored for months, its a Firebird and I believe it's the fuel pump. I've been jumping the battery with my other car, but I need something that will maintain the battery until I can afford to get it towed and have it fixed.
