Princess Bride: 25th Anniversary (Blu-ray) $10

It's a good movie, no doubt, but $10 for a 25 y/o movie is a rip-off.

More so than $10 for a poor to mediocre more modern flick? Maybe we should be paying more for the older, higher quality stuff.

We dont even have to pay $10 for high quality, modern films such as The Dark Knight, all of The Lord of The Rings, Brave, Inception, No Country for Old Men.

Lesser films that won't be regularly quoted 25 years after their release.

People will probably be quoting Anchorman and Monty Python 25 years after their releases. Does that mean they are greater films than "The Dark Knight" or oscar winner "No Country For Old Men"? Quotability is not a logical argument for a movie's greatness.

I've got this in my shopping cart on Amazon. I had to read all of the comments on this thread because it was very amusing, thanks for that, everybody! I am going to check on price at my Target tomorrow before I pull the trigger. The other day I was feeling like I had to get "Elf" on Blu Ray. That is the funniest Christmas movie to me. I could watch it in the summer as well. Amazon's price is $9.49. Saw it at Costco fro $7.99, so I bought it. Princess Bride is one of my top five movies of all time. I already have the regular DVD, but if I get the Blu-Ray, I can then let a few people borrow the regular DVD since they haven't seen it before. How are these people even my friends? I just don't know.

If you plan to frequent SD - do yourself a favor and get Prime.

Yes, I think memorability plays a large role in where history ultimately places a movie. The greatness of Oscar winners is relative only to other movies released in any given year.

However, on playing this Blu-ray, it was immediately obvious that this Blu-Ray only edition is the same 1.85:1 aspect ratio as the other Blu-Ray editions. So all those listed descriptions of this Blu-Ray as a 1.33:1 aspect ratio are just flat out wrong.

So, this Blu-Ray contains essentially all the special features of the "Dread Pirate Roberts" edition and the "20th Anniversary Edition" except for the DVD games and the booklet. The special features are in their original DVD or lower quality video resolution, although it seems that some of the excerpts from the movie itself have been re-edited to use the higher Blu-Ray resolution.

The Blu-Ray quality is excellent, except for being a bit grainy in some parts - tweaking the sharpness or edge enhancement helps, if you have this feature on your Blu-Ray player.
