Just Picked up this Plantronics GameCom 780 Surround Sound Stereo PC Gaming Headset for 39$ at Fry's electronics, tons in stock at most fry's i looked at. Tax is 3 bux. amazon is 57$ right now and last deal was 40, so 10 dollars less. Best rated gaming headset i could find.

And yeah--I've had to return TWO headsets. One was a Sennheisser worth over $100. Excellent sound quality and build quality, but the padding was too insufficient to compensate for the super squeezing from the satellites against my head. The Turtle Beach x12s also went back to amazon because of the annoying voice monitoring feature you can't turn off and a really bad static sound that emanated.
These seem to get a lot of positive press for being great all-around. Plus the surround sound can't hurt!
I paid $80 for them and don't regret it. This is a steal.
For the same money i grabbed logitech z506
- very little bass
- very hard to clean
- cable tangles a lot
- painful to wear after about 2 hours of continuous use.
I had these for 2 weeks.
They sound awesome.
Great bass.
I have a large head.
These cans get hot. I got tired of it after 1 hour.
I needed to put the set across my PC tower over night to stretch them out a bit to make them feel more comfortable.
I returned them after 2 weeks.
This is a great price!
