I bought a t3i with the standard 18-55 kit from the staples deal for $420 now I'm wondering if I should just use that for a while and buy lenses when ready, or go straight to this deal and sell a few things on craigslist.

No, there is one that is a pop up flash that is actually part of the camera. This is an external flash that you mount on the top. It is not included in this package. Normally packages only include lenses, memory cards, cases, etc. Not sure I have ever seen one that includes an external flash.

The flash that is part of the camera is good for good lighting, but for darker rooms, or shooting alot in winter, it leaves alot to be desired. Also, and external flash is not a drain on the camera battery. This takes 4 AA to power it.

You are giving out false information. The t4i comes with it's own rechargeable battery, it doesn't take 4 AA's.

If you read the post, I said the external flash takes AA's. I know the T4i comes with a rechargable battery. All the Canons in this line do.

What about the filters ? Any way to get a free printer after rebate ? I see Pixma pro will cost $300 if I buy with this camera. Is that worth it, given I can get prints for less than 1$ each from Costco, Samsclub or even Walmart ?

I am slightly confused if a camera person can please help me out (buying gift).

Back in the summer I had bought the D3200. Nice camera and crazy megapixel count. However, didn't find it to be that great indoors taking pics of of the grandchild. I also didn't find the video recordings to look any better than what I was getting with my iPhone. I returned it for the T4i and right out of the box, I was getting decent indoor pics without flash and no blurry grandkid! Video was a no-go though with the kit 18-55 lense. I ended up returning it because I had paid full price and couldn't swallow the price.

Really looking forward to getting the T4i back in my hands, and with the 40mm pancake and 18-135 STM lenses, looking forward to not only great indoor shots, but great video too! It's going to be a Merry Christmas!!!

got the 55-250mm for $100. Going to try and resell it.
