Great price. Been waiting for another price drop on Amazon to pick these up. So now I don't have to wait any longer. In stock at my local KMart, so an easy pickup. ShopDiscover is offering 10% back through their shopping portal so that should save me another $2.50.

Now I just need to add these replacement ear pads at Amazon the next time I need a "filler" item.

With all the fancy (and expensive, and fashion trendy), headphones out there, you just can't beat old school. You may think you look cooler, but the sound coming from those expensive cans won't be any better. You'll just have a lot less cash in your pocket. CNET.com has had these as a Top 10 headphone forever.

Anyone have a solution to when the side pads above the ear pads deteriorate?

Agreed on great headphones! Nowadays, my earpads just fall off regularly (took about 6 years to get to that point though). The next (99% positive rated) seller has the earpads for 76 cents more, shipped.

I've had these headphones for almost a decade, just how does that happen?? I'm sure they'll replace the entire set through their lifetime warranty. I've only had to use the warranty once many years ago and it came out to 7 dollars to replace.

You might be able to get a small quantity of high density foam rubber at a local crafts store or hobby shop. Not a perfect solution, but perhaps a workable one.

That's what I was thinking. Probably be better than the original. I have the linked replacement ear pads from Amazon. I am not sure of their durability, but they fit well.

Great portable headphones. The design on these is so old,but they refuse to change it because it is so good!

I've owned beats (studio and solo hd) and still own portapros.
Here's my rank according to sound quality: portapros > studio > solo hd
Of course I only bought the beats because they were on sale and I wanted to make my own judgement on them.
I've owned quite a few headphones from Senns (hd650) to Denon (d7000) to Beyers (dt770) but the value on the portapros are just unbeatable. They may look like sh*t but they sound good. After going thru a journey I've reduced my headphone collection to a pair of LCD2 from Audeze and the portapros.

yeah i'm just going to add to the group of owners vouching for these headphones. they're a great value, and have great sound for the price point (and even for a bit higher price point)

I owed a pair. These were my running headphones for about five years. Terrific. Vouching for them too.

after years of abuse from running, they fell apart. They have a lifetime warranty, but I didn't deal with it yet.

Do send them back - Koss is amazing about living up to the lifetime warranty. I have had mine replaced three times over 25 years (The first had an in-line mute button that quit working, one had a plug that wore out, and the third had a driver that started buzzing). I use them for travel, and they get kicked around quite a bit. They have never questioned one of my warranty returns.
