And this is assuming you're buying the Hitachi to break it open and use as an internal drive. Otherwise the comparison is moot.
Question for iMac user: I'm buying a new iMac (it's on order), will this serve as a good backup for my hard drive? Is it as good as the Time Capsule? Thanks for any info.

I'm living in Seattle now so I feel your pain. You don't realize how expensive CA is until you move out. Now I realize how much cheaper it is to live outside CA. CA is a great state though, the standard of living is a notch higher than Seattle especially road and bridge construction. No floating bridges in the Bay Area to sink.

I forget what do I pay for the annual registration fee for my car? well first I need to wait for about 3hours to get to the counter from a line that extends a mile and then pay three times of what I used to pay in Washington.. ahh.. feels real good.. oh what about the checkout lines at the grocery store? dont worry, its just 2miles long and if I go shopping for groceries, I dont need to go to gym

Do I reformat the external hard drive from my iMac? This is a surprise to me because both Mac and PC use Intel chips now. They run on same architecture.
