There are some jobs that are too much of a PITA for a regular screwdriver (eg. more than 3 screws) but would be destroyed by your typical combo DRILL/DRIVER, like crappy furniture and childrens toys. That's where this little guy fits in
Also for people who have difficulty with their hands. My mother-in-law has an electric screwdriver and it's great for her. I may pick this up for my mom. Maybe she'll find a stud too.
Studs will, 95% of the time, be located either 18" or 24" on center. If you can pick up 2 or 3 at a 18 or 24" spacing, then you should be good to go for the whole wall. Typically, your doors will have a stud that continues up on either side of the door and then a stud located somewhere in the middle of those on the top of the door.
