Great prices, especially for the 2tb and 3tb drives.
No USB 3.0 though, so if you aren't patient you may want to wait for a newer model.

One can PM Amazon's price to TD. Took 15-20 minutes but it worked out (chat and phone).

MyBook would be the premium version with some software and security measures, higher capacities and faster connections.
got greedy and try to order 500 AMD 4GB USB drive at $0.97 each i think, saying, hey, i'd like to be ebay seller... so i put that membership in cart as well, which can justify the cost for 500 flash drive...
the membership got started immediately after my order; but it turned out they didn't have that many flash drives in stock, obviously... so the whole order was canceled and i didn't even get the record on my CC yet,
leaving the membership running till now, 5 months i guess?
i'm waiting for my pay-back day right now, LOL
"Portable" and "desktop" refers to the external hard drive sizes. In general, another popular term is "ultra portable," which is the smallest of the three; "desktop" drives are the largest.
Hope this helps,

usually, manufacturer would put some sticker at one or two screwers or connection edge between two pieces of the case, or somewhere that if you need to open the case, you are gonna break that little sticker/seal. that's usually how they know whether you cracked your case or not.
even in your case, you just called them up, and even you give them the right SN # or something, when claiming the warranty, usually the drive needs to be mailed back or returned to retail store, so.... they'd inspect it before issuing you replacement
but once i justify the time saved on transferring files, even it's like 500GB files?! nah, no difference for me, cuz I'd leave it transferring while i'm away... right? as for fast transferring on large files, either USB 3.0 or 2.0 sucks anyway. you are supposed to use server and then 10Mbps ethernet port to do that, in company, school, and any institute.
put it another way, investing that kind of money to a consumer desktop or even some gadgets for a laptop, doesn't really improve the performance that much. Simply saying, it's not worthy, at least not for me.
i was just saying EVEN IF you didn't break anything, the warranty will be void, just because of some stickers. Manufacturers aren't fools,
