For Japanese watch.. would you consider Seiko or Citizen?

I can't really find reviews on it though, does someone have input on the watch? It's going to be the first time I spend over $20 on a watch so I want to make sure its a good purchase!

A sign of a quality watch is a screw down case back as opposed to a snap closed back. Look for a watch with at least 100 meter water resistance. Joma warrants the watch for 3 years.

Both are high quality watches that give incredible value for the money. It depends on what type of movement you want. For an automatic, I would go with Seiko. Their inexpensive automatic watches rival some expensive Swiss movements for accuracy. (Bear in mind that automatic watches will rarely be as accurate as quartz.) Citizen makes a great solar watch called Eco-Drive. Seiko solars are also excellent. The Seiko Kinetic blends the flywheel of an automatic with a lithium ion button cell and a quartz movement to recharge the watch from the motion of your wrist.

I got the email offer from JomaShop and thought of getting canvas automatic watch for gym.
But after reading the reviews I didn't pull the trigger.
The reviews on amazon are not good, even the most positive reviews are saying that the watch looses around a minute every day so I guess its not worth.
I would get this watch if its a quartz.

I recently bought this kinetic watch from Ashford. You won't be disappointed and 95 is very good price right now at jomashop (it is a newer model)

I too love SKA539. 95$ is a steal for that watch. I own this watch and can't even think about taking it out. It is so good. So many people have admired it.

I purchased the black dial Chronograph Seiko SNDC33 watch in a previous SD. This is my first "nicer" watch purchase, and I've heard good things about Seiko watches. The caliber 7T92 is supposed to be a solid, reliable, accurate. I set my time to the second around 12/14/2012 to my computer updated with Internet Time. I just updated it today, and checked how many seconds the watch is off, and the watch is off by ONE second (slow). I have a Casio clunker that I also calibrated and it's 17 seconds fast. I was gifted another watch (bulova) and it's 8 seconds fast (calibrated on the same day). I'm really happy with this watch. The stopwatch 1/20th hand literally flies around when you activate it.

The band that it comes with is really thick, has a quality feel to it. 20mm.

I'm not sure if I'm seeing the same reviews, at least for the Seiko 5. The Amazon reviews mention some watches losing around a minute a week which isn't bad for a cheap automatic.

Oh well, Automatics are a personal preference. I have always loved the mechanical nature of them even though they are less accurate than a quartz. To get an automatic in such a cheap package is pretty awesome.

Ugly watches need love too!

I have one of the canvas automatic watches and I love it. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that if you're not wearing it, it will die without a rewind. If you swap watches alot, it's worth getting an auto winder.

You're killing me here, when the deal was first posted I came very close to ordering it then decided to wait a while and compare a few watches in-store.
Now I'm back in the same boat. It's sitting there in my cart... taunting me...
