WTF, does no one make good drives anymore?

Reds were supposed to be western digital's alternative to re4s for raid controllers at home.

Apparently the problem is they crank em out so fast that the quality goes to shit. I mean you're talking people buying like 5-10 drives that are bricks. Normally when drives are bricks it's because of damage because of poorly packed shippers. But in this case it seems like WD just didn't do quality control.

Maybe amazon will match. Drives from Amazon seem to fair better than newegg.

I usually don't believe in scary reviews for HDD, but man, I ordered 3 x 3TB of these WD red drives off newegg and one of them is DOA. First time I have a HDD DOA on me for the last 12 years...

I was wondering the exact same thing, but do they price match promotional items?

The reviews are still good overall, far more positives than negatives. Plus, you should factor in that people are much more likely to leave a review if they have a problem than they are if everything goes fine.

I ordered one a couple weeks ago and it works perfectly, excellent drive.

On that note, it was $109.99 when I bought it, does Newegg have any kind of price guarantee or anything? I'm wondering if they will refund me the difference.
