BACK IN-STOCK !!
911 Service Providers:
Anveo - .80 cents per month www.anveo.com
The cheapest way to port your number from landline to GV is via T-Mobile. They will port your landline number to TMo for free. They will also mail you a prepaid SIM with 10mins for free to do the porting. SD link here for the TMo card: http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/8...r-or-micro
The free promotion is still going. Currently it's $9 discounted to free for the regular SIM. I inserted it into my unlocked AT&T phone for the port process, but should work with any unlocked GSM phone. From TMo to Google will cost you $20.

Some useful information about OBi
- Even though Google Voice don't have E911 support, you can signup for E911 yourself
Link to How to set-up 911 calling on an OBi device
http://blog.obihai.com/2011/11/ca...vices.html- Cheapest E911 provider is Anveo (at $0.8/month) http://www.anveo.com/service.asp (FREE plan and add E911)
- If you are switching from POTS to Obi or other voip services, in many states the old phone line will remain active for calling 911. You just leave your phone connected and they disabled outgoing calls at the phone company computers.
- if you do not want to 'dedicate' a SIP slot for E911, you can use http://www.gv911.com/ - costs $12/year
- www.smart911.com - Smart911 is a free service that allows citizens across the U.S. to create a Safety Profile for their household that includes any information they want 9-1-1 to have in the event of an emergency. Then, when anyone in that household dials 9-1-1 from a phone associated with their Safety Profile, their profile is immediately displayed to the 9-1-1 call taker providing additional information that can be used to facilitate the proper response to the proper location.

I currently pay ITP $15.07 a month ($9.99 +. taxes) for my VOIP landline and am pretty happy - good quality - 911 (important), voicemail, blacklists, etc work well.
But if I can get the same service for a bit cheaper I wouldn't mind trying one of these things... is it worth it to make the switch?
mine has been up for close to 2 years now I think. not a single issue. Use it as home phone

So check your landline because you may be able to use it for 911. Sometimes the phone company will disconnect your line at the interface box on the side of your house, but it's easy to reconnect.
I have the OBI 100, I just pay $0.80 a month for 911 service.
Voice quality on the OBI 100 + GV has been perfect. Been using it for almost 5 months.
