If you have a new PC with Windows 8 and want to upgrade to 8 Pro, YOU CAN DO IT FOR THE $14.99 price through Microsoft (as many found out from the Dell Inspiron 660 Deal around Christmas time). Just call the Microsoft Store, tell them you have a PC with 8 and want the upgrade to 8 PRO under the $14.99 deal. They'll do the remote support thing and take over control of the PC while they walk you through it. You go through the Windows 7 upgrade link and they give you a discount code at check out. Some people reported having to call a few times to get the right person. I lucked out on my first call.

Remember people, after January 31st, Windows 8 Pro prices go up SIGNIFICANTLY (+$100).
If you haven't already purchased your license, do so now.
Also, make sure to sign-up for your free Media Center Pack, as that offer will also disappear at the end of the month and become an additional cost.

Thanks for the reminder..
that being said, i suppose this is a good deal if you didn't get the $14 deal by buying a windows 7 machine just prior to release of 8.
Nothing like forcing you to install.
It will ship out Monday, and the 31st is a Thursday.

I've had plans for a HTPC, but I'm only in the research stage right now. So I had signed up for a couple keys a month or so ago. Then I get the email yesterday saying they expire Jan 31st if I don't activate them.
Well, I guess they'll expire. No big deal for me as I was leaning on using Windows 7 Media Center anyways.
