Thanks! Wish I knew about this earlier, grabbed Lightcore Drobot this morning from Target, pricematched Best Buy's 10.99.

my son has regular drobot, what's the difference between that and lightcore robot?

So was researching and found out the Lightcore Skylanders are actually less powerful than the non-Lightcore versions. Instead of having a "Wowpow" super ability that's specific to each Skylander, they have a Lightcore blast ability, where it's like a smart bomb goes off once immediately when you place the Skylander into play on the Portal of Power. So they balance looks with power, and give a reason to buy both.

If you can find the non-Lightcores cheaper, it seems like a better deal, at least from a gameplay perspective. Well, at least the Lightcores are in different poses and not just repaints. =)

Ah just look at my post above. They have slightly different (worse) abilities, they have a passive light up effect, and they're in a different pose.

She's not a Lightcore, but from what I read she's one of the most powerful Tech Skylanders, with a unique ability to have turrets up that attack independent from her I guess. Good to buy at least one Skylander from each category so you can unlock areas in the games. My son instantly picked Lightcore Drobot, so at least we have Tech covered.
