be EXTREMELY positive that this will work with your laptop before buying. I have three newer Intel Laptops (i5s and i7s), and 2 of them were not compatible with this Netgear device. It worked on the one laptop that had Intel WIDI already installed. If you go through the info on the Netgear, you'll see that it works on a very specific combination of intel Chipset and intel Wireless Card

Have anyone tried both; curious for a direct comparison between the two models.
It should work with a motherboard with built in WiDi. I have two of these

and they should work.
Thanks OP.
I ended up returning mine a few months back.
WiDi is integrated into the wireless chip. Unfortunately some makers put Realtek chips in their laptops (Lenovo, etc).
Even the Surface Pro doesn't have WiDi support.

One major issue, it need special Intel drivers. My Dell has 2 cards. one is Intel and other is dedicated graphics card.
If I keep my original setting as it is, it is not working. I need to upgrade it to Intel graphics card driver in order for me to work this model. If I install Intel driver and 2nd NVIDIA driver is getting disable... My thinking is Dell need to upgrade there driver and manufacture don't upgrade drivers as far as Intel itself is upgrade there own driver.
As far as technology,
2 out of 10 - it got auto disconnected in running video.
2 out of 10 - video working but audio still work on laptop, it didn't transfer to TV.
Overall - working good. I would say at this price, it's ok device...
