square card reader. they take 2.75%, but since my credit card returns 2% on gas, i figure i actually only end up losing a few cents..

RIng them up, ask them to send you a check (they call it a refund). You can do between 7 and 9 cards at a time, depending on who you speak to. You have to explain why you can't use the card. I say I'm somewhere where they don't accept Amex. If they keep asking I'll say the North Pole, but they never have. The alternative to that is Amazon payments but you need someone with an account who you trust.

There are a number of ways:
1. Buy Amazon Gift Cards. You can buy digital gift cards for amounts under a $1 to clear out the full balance of a given card. So if you use the card for something else (say you spend $4.50 on fast food and have $0.50 left), you are at least getting every penny back.

2. Send money from one Amazon Payments account to another using the prepaid card as the funding source. Make sure to select payment for "goods & services." For example, you could have an account for you and your wife/significant other (if you trust them).
Then withdraw the money to your bank account (if you have access to their account) or have them withdraw it to theirs and write you a check.

3. Same thing as #2, except with AMEX Serve. [This doesn't work for AMEX Prepaid Cards]

4. Buy gas for a set amount. You have to go inside and tell the gas station attendant that you want $5 (or whatever the card amount is) on your pump and pre-pay. It may look stupid, but it will clear out the amount in its entirety.

5. If you have an AMEX Prepaid Card (4MyRebate.com uses these), you can call the Phone # on the back of the card and tell them you want a check. This refund process will take about 20 business days.

great I am STILL waiting on my MX-2 rebate. It is too risky to bite down on this.

I called them and they are supposed to go to the "printer" this or next week according to their rep. We should have them in a week or two.

Waiting from November 8th on the last deal I don't think I want to go through the follow-up with this AZ center again.

I just got my rebate from Thanksgiving's Asus BD-R today so these guys are almost a month behind.

Use them at the grocery store. They work just like a credit card. If your groceries cost $15 and you've got a $10 rebate card, then you just pay the $5 balance oop.

Still waiting on my last FAR deal of this time back in November. Called the rebate company up and couldn't tell me of the delay. Just wait they say...

Rebates are such a pain. Just another excuse for them to hold on to your money while it builds interest.

Thanks for this reminder, I sent in a rebate back in November but never received anything, it does show up on their tracking as having been received. No wonder they can keep perpetually offering this FAR, they don't pay out. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

I just use the prepaid cards on gas. This rebate will be odd since it's $16.99. You might be able to ask the clerk for that exact amount but might get an odd look but at least you'll use it all.
