Thank you.
FWIW - I have Kaspersky Internet Security now, tweaked settings somewhat, and have Malwarebytes Pro but just use Malwarebytes on demand. If I choose to move to another antivirus later, such as free Avast, I can always just enable the real time protection of Malwarebytes and run them alongside each other. The lifetime license of Malwarebytes gives you several options as to what you want to do later.
Conditioned upon your compliance with the terms and conditions of this Agreement, Malwarebytes grants you a non-exclusive and non-transferable license to Execute (as defined herein) each copy of the Software solely in executable form on a single computer or virtual machine (a “Computer”), solely for your personal or internal business purposes. Once installed onto a Computer, the Software may be operated by any person using the Computer, whether directly or via remote connection. If you wish to transfer the Software to a different Computer, you must first completely uninstall the Software from the first Computer, then reinstall the Software on the new Computer and re-register the Software on the new Computer with Malwarebytes.
For one computer I purchased and downloaded MBAM Pro directly from malwarebytes.org.
For another computer I purchased the "OEM Installation CD" from newegg, and then used the accompanying product ID and key to activate MBAM Pro.
Both computers are running MBAM Pro (clearly branded as Pro in the same way) and both installations have identical pro features like real-time protection, automatic updates, and scheduled scanning. Even before I activated Pro, there was no reference to an OEM version, it just looked like an older free version.
There are no stated terms that indicate my Pro version is different than other Pro versions where A Consumer license may be used for one computer at a time. Licenses are transferable from old machines to new ones. [malwarebytes.org]
I guess MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS is not necessary if we have this installed?
They have been blowing right by ESET, MSE, Avast, and pretty much any other AV program you can think of.
Not only that but they make it close to impossible to remove and often require you to take the hard drive out of the infected computer and install it into another computer as a non boot drive to allow trojan removal.
A reviewer on Newegg posted additional terms (I'm assuming from the packaging he received) stating ""This OEM System Builder Channel software requires the assembler to provide end user support from the manufacture software and cannot be transferred to another computer once it is installed. To acquire manufacture software with support provided by manufacture please see our full package "Retail" product offerings."
That very much sounds to me like it CANNOT be transferred from 1 PC to the next, and you cannot contact Malwarebytes for Technical support, like you could with the retail version.
Edit: I just saw on Newegg's page in details section, the same quote except it says "and can be transferred to another computer once it is installed." I wonder where the reviewer got that quote that says cannot, and I wonder which is correct?
Based on what the reviewer on Newegg posted, that might be an issue.
That could easily be the generic terms in the MBAM pro product. If the package you received with your OEM product has additional terms, those may be binding over the ones on your computer.
I too have seen this 4 times so far. All four times, within a few hours I was able to update MBAM using a different user account, scan the infected profile and remove the virus, then I had to do a system restore to a pre-infected restore point to completely eliminate the browser redirects. Keep in mind that these virus coders work for some big money rogue companies and they come out with multiple variants daily. These guys have the skills to design viruses that can slip past an engine that they can test against. Once MBAM gets wind of the new variant, they have been very quick to include updates to remove it. Another important point is that in all 4 cases I saw, the infection got through an exploited java vulnerability. Java has been plagued with exploitable vulnerabilities the past while (many a day or 2 after a new security update). I have removed java from all PCs that I manage, except for the few people that need it for web-based java applets. In those cases I restrict java to only run on that site. For users who only need java for an actual program on their PC, I completely disable java from running in all browsers to close that hole.
Your post was deleted because what you are suggesting is illegal and immoral. When you buy a product, you agree to the terms of the license. And why would you want to steal from a company that helps us all protect and clean our PCs?
plus their CEO is cool too.

Agree... I have fixed three or four different versions of this ransomeware for people. I think it tricks them into allowing what they think is an update so it bypasses (I guess) the security software... anyway, one was a real pain to remove. I believe this guy was arrested last week so these infections might be over.
also there's this - http://singularlabs.com/software/javara/
during installation it was the reg version even with an option "install trial pro" clicked no, and used the ID and Key and it upgraded.

Worked like a charm.
At home all I had to do was to enter the keys in my Free version. Great software. Have been happy with it for a long time. Great price with the DVD as a back up!
Worked like a charm.
I have seen a trojan ransom prevent *any* type of boot up, including safe mode.
The only thing you would get is a blank white screen every time. No actions at all were allowed. This was one sneaky and evil SOB I can tell you.
It required removal of the infected hard drive and you had to install that in another computer as a non boot drive so that MBAM could be run for removal.
If a person decides to run both Malwarebytes and an antivirus they should go to the settings in each program and exclude the other program. I'd at least decide whether to use the web protection of the av, assuming it has such protection, or the IP blocking of Malwarebytes, but not both. Some av's need Malwarebytes removed completely, so that issue pops up from time to time. But those av's are ones that I do not use.
