These might be 5900 RPM
There have been reports that the Seagate Backup Plus 4TB series may ship as a DX0001 or a DM0001. - This should be printed on the packaging, and on the enclosure itself.
DX is 7200 RPM and DM is 5900 RPM."
Can someone confirm that this is true? <--This is true. You can see from other threads that some people got the DX (like DarnCrazy) and few others getting the DM.
This drive has been on sale at various sites recently, and the DX model has been confirmed to be the Barracuda XT 7200RPM drive - see thread/pictures here: http://slickdeals.net/f/5861790-S...st57731698

Or are you going by the 'PN: 1DXAP4-500' printed on the label attached to the black plastic enclosure?
The DX in PN: 1DXAP$-500 does NOT mean the hard drive inside is a DX drive.
I say this because I have opened up two such enclosures. One had a 7200 rpm drive inside, the other a 5900 rpm drive.
Thanks.

I'd probably break the enclosure when trying to get it open anyway.
$167.99 - 20% = $134.39 + tax
where do you get this coupon exactly?
I did a warranty check on the external and Seagate says: Expiration 21-Mar-2015
So by holding on to the external enclosure I get an extra 3 months of warranty service. Total warranty is 2 years 1 month from when I bought it. The part number on the drive inside is: 1CL160-570 It's a Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM drive.
