Yeah, One thing I noticed is that the laptop was ridiculously slow at doing anything, despite having one of the faster laptop CPUs. I've negotiated $800 for a Lenovo on my friend's behalf:

i7-3630 CPU
8GB RAM
GTX 650M 2GB video card
1080p matte display
model Y500

It's $100 more but much faster, and much much much better build quality. Also, for $150 he can add a second GTX 650M video card for SLI. Cool.

I'm hearing so many different reviews on this laptop. So was it worth the price? For someone that doesn't game much but does a lot of multimedia, is this a good laptop? I really need a laptop for college but I'd love to get a deal on a entertaining laptop.

Just got ours today: slow, keeps freezing up even just loading simple things like Chrome, my son is very frustrated.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I have 20+ tabs of Chrome open and editing HD Video (720p) in Adobe Premiere and it runs without a hiccup. Maybe call for a new unit if yours is acting up. Only complaint I have is the plastic build quality. But performance wise, I'm very happy for the price. Also make sure you switch your power plan to High Performance as it comes "balanced" as default. Maybe that's your guys problem.

Yeah, that's what I got, although I didn't see it here, I saw it myself around 4pm. I then called and asked if they could do it lower, so I got it for $799+tax. I feel it's a decent deal, although at $750 would be SD territory.

I'm running into the same problem. I updated the video drivers (& bios) and when the switchable graphics are set, I only get 15fps on WoW. (good setting in game) I get 25 with the standard graphics running.

Sadly my quad core desktop with 4 gig ram and an older 1 gig AMD card runs around 30 fps on the better setting.

I am going to try the Leshcat drivers like another poster mentioned. If that doesn't solve the issue, it is going back.

I realise it isn't a gaming laptop, but WoW is exactly graphic intensive.

Speed wise for everything else is fast after it is done booting. I have no problem opening tabs on Chrome or IE...

got mine a week ago. Has nice matte screen though i think the contrast is weak and cant really appreciate the 1080 for vidoe but good for reading.

THe keyboard is weird not used to that much space between the keys, should have made them bigger.

The worst part is the battery, just got the freaking thing and fully charged battery and it doesnt last 2 hours of web video watching. on 50% brightness.

I am returning mine, as it is also a beast of a machine size wise, i need to travel with it for work. But if yuo are using for desktop replacement then it is good.

DO NOT KEEP IF YOU plan on traveling with it.

Come to find out, mine actually does have a bad hard drive. Ran diagnostics and got the error message. Super aggravating.

I agree, having problems with mine. Hassle no longer worth it. Running SC2 at medium and game keeps on freezing up. Even after all drivers updated and turned on high preformance for SC2. (SC2 has many apps, turned them all on)

Jesus christ, so damn frusturating.

To make things worse, one of their customer rep called me and tried to sell me 3 other products for 30 minutes!!!!

Def going back. Was thinking about a replacement though, but they didnt offer one. =(

I tried that for mine, on SC2. Graphics are great, but absolutely freezes for a second every minute or so. Even with high performance.
