Are you talking about the RCA cable port on the Roku? Didn't even realize you could just use that as a headphone jack. It works though. I guess you'll have to have headphones that you can raise and lower the volume on though, otherwise you'll be stuck with the same volume. I guess the Roku 3 remote has volume buttons.

I know the Roku 2 XS doesn't play avi files. Not sure about the Roku 3. Would seem odd for them to leave it out of details if it did play avi files. Seems like something they would want people to know. Also, the Roku 2 XS doesn't play audio for DTS files.

I wish they would add voice control to Roku. That would be awesome.

I hope it is an improvement on the Roku 3, because the VUDU channel on my Roku 2 XS is very flakey. Long load times and buffering issues pretty often. I never seem to have the same problems with Netflix or Amazon.

WDTV media player----i have one of the hub's and one of the player's and i love them both---the hub acts as a NAS for the whole network(if you need one for backups) and the standalone can play files from a network share or via usb connection.

It is an xd. I dont think i can justify the upgrade though until this thing wont play the plex channel anymore. I couldn't do the rouk2 models because of the lack of Ethernet jack but this is looking tempting.

love my Roku 2XS but just upgraded my BR player to a Sony BDP-S590 (from a 570) so the 3 seems completely unnecessary.

all i wanted was 1080p & 5.1 from Netflix! the PS3 interface is a nice touch though...

Also, pulling in HDTV signals OTA can be fairly easy too, depending on where you live and what type of dwelling you are in. I know nothing about the Roku. Does it require a subscription, or does it just connect to your internet and let you stream shows? Would be nice to have something like that with our new bedroom TV -- we were considering a DVD player, but this would be way more flexible if it does what I hope it does...

I don't follow. How would you use Plex with this box? I have tons of movies on a NAS drive that I want to see on my living room tv. I know WDTV is a choice but if Roku can make them available then I have streaming + home media

Jeeeeez - I just returned the dual band router I bought because I found out my Roku XS couldn't even pick up the 5ghz band.

Can anyone comment on whether or not this makes a difference? We don't really have issues with content streaming right now anyway w/ ~40mb internet...but I am curious because for HBO Go it always shows 3 out of 4 circles when determining quality (which I assume is based on the connection speed).

The 5ghz connection is still throttled to the speed of our internet connection, right?


Btw - nice deal. Saw this came out and totally want it...but I can't really make a good argument as to why I should upgrade.

There is a Plex app on the Roku where it allows to connect to your Plex server.
