These are RCA's and they're still being used today in almost every media application. They also work for video and cars. A bunch of these is perfect for the media center.

You just made my head explode. These are stereo RCA cables, not "speaker wire". The are used to connect a stereo audio source to an amp/receiver/TV. There is nothing old about them. And if you think an RCA connector is 'huge' what do you think of XLRs that I use from my pre-amp to my amp?

These seem to be on sale as well. Same length. 8ft. Looks like it may have an extra shielded layer. Great for video

Std RCA cable, 8ft really isn't a length where you need extra shielding - have some monster cables from way back for that application. May bite
