Rome Total War is worth it for the Rome Total Realism mod which makes the game AWESOME.

Side note: have you seen screenshots from Rome Total War 2?

I actually have all of them minus the F1 Racing Game.

None of them require a continuous online connection to play. However, of course, you'll need internet if you want to play multiplayer.

I'm clocking 250+ hours on Shogun (both DLC and main game). If you planning to get Shogun, don't hesitate to drop 6$ on the FoTS as well. Totally worth it.

The coop campaigns are twice as fun as the single player, so tell your game buddy to pick this up as well, if both of you are in for the genre.
