Corsair has recently introduced a new line of gaming peripherals, including mouse, keyboard and headset products, that all feature its brand new SLIPSTREAM wireless technology.
SLIPSTREAM is Corsair’s answer to the challenges that have traditionally led competitive gamers to avoid wireless peripherals. It delivers super fast response times and reliable, lag-free connections to satisfy even the most demanding of gamers. And the good news is that it’s accessible for people of all budgets, with SLIPSTREAM-enabled products starting at $49.99.
Let’s take a closer look at how SLIPSTREAM works and what it brings to the future of wireless gaming devices.

What is SLIPSTREAM?

Corsair designed SLIPSTREAM with the goal of creating wireless gaming peripherals that perform just as well as their wired counterparts. It uses a proprietary 2.4Ghz wireless protocol that’s capable of transmitting twice the amount of data over the airwaves as traditional wireless technology. This allows it to achieve connectivity that’s not only much more stable and reliable than previous wireless devices, but also significantly faster.
With SLIPSTREAM tech on board, Corsair says that its mouse, keyboard and headset products are able to perform without any of the typical drawbacks of older wireless gear. This means that wireless devices are finally a viable choice for both competitive and pro-level gamers alike.

Why is SLIPSTREAM Great for Gaming?

Low Latency
Corsair says that SLIPSTREAM can provide response times less than 1ms. This is achieved by sending out twice as much data as is necessary in order to combat data loss due to interference. And this means that a SLIPSTREAM-enabled mouse should prove to be so fast that you won’t be able to tell that there’s no wired connection.
No Interference
SLIPSTREAM employs a new technique called IFS (Intelligent Frequency Shift) to maintain rock-solid signal stability. IFS scans the wireless spectrum twice every millisecond and changes channels on the fly in order to make sure your devices are on the cleanest frequency at any given time. This should work wonders in scenarios like LAN parties or tournaments, where several wireless devices are all fighting over the airwaves. This also boosts signal range, which can reach up to a claimed 60 feet.
High Definition Game and Voice Audio
Wireless Corsair headsets equipped with SLIPSTREAM will benefit from a high-bandwidth connection that allows for a crisp, high-definition game audio downstream, and a lossless voice communication upstream at the same time. The days of wireless headsets having poor voice communication should be a thing of the past.
Three Devices, One USB Port
SLIPSTREAM allows users to connect up to three compatible devices to a single wireless USB dongle. This means you can have your entire setup – mouse, keyboard and headset – all connected wirelessly to your PC via a single USB port.
