Chase cardmembers can rejoice over newly added benefits to some of its most popular credit cards. While the new benefits will be loved by many, will Chase authorized users have access to them?
Chase recently formed partnerships with Lyft and DoorDash, adding valuable travel and dining benefits. Chase Sapphire, Freedom, Slate and Ink cardmembers will gain access to new benefits starting January 12, 2020.
Table of Contents
Chase Sapphire Reserve® will see the most benefits, with a one-year membership to Lyft Pink, along with 10X points on Lyft rides and up to $120 in statement credits on DoorDash purchases. Other Chase cards listed will earn 5X points on Lyft rides.
Don’t forget about the addition of DoorDash’s DashPass membership. DoorDash has created a new subscription service, and several Chase cards now come will complimentary membership. The length of the membership is between three months and two years, depending on which card you have.
What about Chase authorized users? Do all of these benefits apply to authorized user cards too? Let’s walk through each benefit separately to see who qualifies for each one.
Lyft Pink Membership
Lyft’s new membership program is called Lyft Pink. Sapphire Reserve cardmember can activate a one-year membership to Lyft Pink. The program offers preferred pricing, with up to 15% off rides, priority airport pickups, easy cancellations, and up to three free 30-minute bike and scooter rides monthly.
Unfortunately, access to Lyft Pink is limited to one per credit card account. An account can be registered in the name of the primary cardmember or an authorized user, whoever activates it first.
Bonus points for Lyft Rides
All Lyft rides through March 2022 will earn both primary cardmembers and authorized users bonus points or cash back. Sapphire Reserve cardmembers earn 10X points on Lyft rides. Other Sapphire cards, along with Freedom and Ink credit cards, earn either 5X points or 5% cash back.
How to Activate Your Lyft Benefit
Chase cardholders will see their Lyft benefits awarded automatically when using their cards. More information available in this Lyft blog post.
DoorDash Statement Credits
Sapphire Reserve cardmembers can also earn statement credits of up to $60 in 2020 and $60 in 2021 on DoorDash purchases. This benefit is per credit card account, so authorized users don’t get additional credits.
DoorDash is offering membership to its new subscription service, DashPass, for select Chase cardmembers. DashPass comes with unlimited deliveries with $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on orders over $12.
Sapphire Reserve and Preferred cardmembers have access for a minimum of one year. Chase Freedom and Slate cardmembers will receive a DashPass membership for three months free, followed by a discounted 50% membership price the next nine months. The complimentary DashPass membership must be activated by December 31, 2021.
This benefit is available both to primary cardmembers and authorized users.
If you have a credit card, most likely, you have the option to add an authorized user to your account. They will receive their own card, but they are tied to your account. Being an authorized user on a credit card is a great way to share card benefits (when applicable) and earn points and miles quicker. There’s typically a fee charge to add an authorized user to an account.
