On Wednesday, Sep. 12, Apple unveiled three new models of iPhone: the XR, the XS, and the XS Max. With starting prices of $749, $999, and $1,099 respectively, these devices are some of the most expensive smartphones on the market.

Fortunately for Apple fans, several retailers have started offering deals and discounts on the new generation of iPhones. We've rounded up the new iPhone promotions you should know about, so you can make the smartest choice with your money. But before we get in to the details, here are our picks for the best deals:

iPhone XS and XS Max Deals and Discounts

Sprint

As shocking as it sounds, Sprint is offering to lease customers the 64 GB iPhone XS for $0 a month with an eligible trade-in. Seriously. You can also get the XS Max for only $4.17 a month.

Order Now from Sprint

To take advantage of either option, however, you have to opt in to Sprint's 18-month Sprint Flex plan. Additionally, the phones viable for the trade-in go all the way back to the iPhone 7.

You can read the full terms and conditions along with eligible trade-ins on Sprint's website by following this link.

Apple

If you want to go straight to the source and pick up your new phone from Apple, you're in luck. The tech giant has updated its Apple GiveBack trade-in program to include the last generation's models.

A working iPhone X, for example, can net customers $525 in trade-in credit, which is far and away the best trade rate we've seen so far. If you want to swap out your iPhone X for the new hotness, Apple is the best place to do it.

AT&T

If you buy two iPhones from AT&T, the second one will grant you $700 in credit over the course of your term agreement. But there are a few caveats. To put it simply, you have to:

  • Be a new or current AT&T customer
  • Buy two iPhones at full price (either upfront or over the course of an installment plan)
  • Add a new line to your phone service
  • Either sign up for DirecTV or already be a subscriber

After that, you'll receive $700 in bill credit. You don't get a lump sum, however.

The credit is distributed in equally divided monthly installments to your bill over the course of your agreed contract with AT&T.

So if you have a 30 month contract, you'll get around $23.33 a month.

You should think very carefully about committing to this deal, as it's asking a lot of you. You can read the full terms and conditions by following this link.

Verizon

Verizon is offering a $750 service credit when you order the XS, XS Max, XR, or X. However, you need to buy two phones at full price (either upfront or over the course of 24 months with an installment plan) to claim the credit. And one of those phones needs to be an XR or an X.

In addition, you need to buy a new line for one of those phones.

After you do that, the $750 service credit is doled out evenly over the course of 24 months (or $31.25 a month).

Also, this offer does NOT stack with trade-in credits. You can trade in your old device to Verizon for $100 or more, but then you won't receive the $750 credit.

You can read the full terms and conditions by following this link.

T-Mobile

If you're looking for a trade-in credit but you don't want to add a new line to your existing phone plan, T-Mobile will give you up to $390 in 24 monthly installments on your bill when you purchase the new iPhone XS or XS Max and trade in your old device.

However, you can't buy the new phone outright to take advantage of this deal, you need to use a financial installment plan.

You can find the full list of eligible trade-in devices and the full terms and conditions here.

US Mobile

US Mobile, a smaller carrier that utilizes Verizon's infrastructure to provide service, is giving out up to $100 in service credits with your new iPhone XS or XS Max. While you don't have to start a new line or trade in an older device, there are still some steps to this process.

First, you have to order a US Mobile Starter Kit (basically just a SIM card) from the company for $3.99 and enter the code CHEAP100 at checkout. Then, you have to buy a new iPhone.

The carrier doesn't sell the device, so you'll have to get it somewhere else. After you get your SIM card, insert it into your new phone and activate your phone with the same code, CHEAP100.

From there, US Mobile will give you a $100 service credit evenly divided over the course of 12 months. However, if your service plan costs less than $100 over that year, US mobile will NOT refund you the difference.

Costco

From 10/19 through 10/25/18, Costco members can visit the in-warehouse Wireless Center to get up to $390 back from T-Mobile when purchasing an iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max.

An eligible trade-in device is required to receive the maximum benefit (varies by phone model traded), which comes in the form of a single bill statement credit and a Prepaid MasterCard Card. This is a great deal for those who only need one phone and don't want to be tied down waiting for 24 months of statement credits.

Visit your local Costco to learn more, or read the full terms and conditions here.

Verizon - "best deal ever" NO WAY --- I phone 7 offered $650 credit per phone with trade-in - no new line needed. Boy do they lie!

Thanks for the informative post, Liam.

I am trying to find a slickdeal way to buy the iPhone XS outright and use the new iphone on my Sprint BYOD free plan. All these deals are BOGO or installment plans, and I personally would prefer to just buy it outright and not deal with the phone carrier's payments, contracts, or bill credits

The previous iPhone 8 / X offer required TV service, but in the terms for the XS / XS Max offer, I don't see where internet service or TV service are required anymore. Only a postpaid wireless data plan. Still a horrible deal, but that's one less barrier.

Practically, you are correct. But dollar wise, $700 is more than $650!

You didn't add the second line I don't need. It's a terrible offer. Replace best with worst and it's actually correct.

US Mobile deal is misstated. It's up to $400 credit. The deal is 50% off your monthly rate up to $33.33/month x12 months. If you plan is only $30/month then you get $15 off per month. Still a pretty good deal; also no wifi calling yet; phone, text & data service in USA, no roaming outside . US (e.g. Canada).

Boy! None of the deals look good at the moment compared to what we are used to of seeing in the past. Adding a new line is a big No-No for most of the customers. One option is to ping-pong from one carrier to the another every two years to buy a new iPhone and get the discount. I would consider waiting for couple more weeks in the hope of getting a good deal.

At least provide accurate info.. the Verizon deal is NOT how it works at all.. you don't buy the phones up front and recieve the money as credits on the back end. You do 2 device payments and one of then gets credited back.. fix your error.

This deal is a total of $700 off of 2 phones. The I phone 7 Deal was $650 off of each phone with trade ins - so 2 phones save you a total of $1300. So exactly correct, not practically correct!!!!
