July is usually an ideal month to save on nearly anything you can imagine thanks to Amazon’s Prime Day spurring sales across many popular stores, but with plans for Prime Day 2020 still up in the air due to the current COVID-19 situation, shoppers will need to be a little savvier with their purchases this month in order to ensure they’re getting the best deal.

In case you don’t want to hold out until the rumored rescheduled Prime Day (Fall 2020), there are certain items that historically have the best prices during the month of July. Here are 12 tips on items you can score deep discounts on this month along with what deals to expect after July as well.

1. Save Hundreds on Washers + Dryers

Appliances like washers and dryers are often on steep markdown during the month of July, thanks in large part to Fourth of July sales with many of these holiday sales extending past the exact date of July 4.

For instance, Lowe’s was offering up to 35% off washers and dryers, with special savings on laundry pairs. Also, Costco had its Fourth of July sale with savings on several major brands which they are already often priced below most other MSRP due to the power of warehouse store pricing.

Best Buy offered deals for up to 40% off major appliances like washers and dryers with same-week delivery and installation services for July deals. Likewise, Home Depot also featured 40% off select washers and dryers, plus an instant discount of up to $600 if you buy multiple appliances and free delivery (a value savings of at least a hundred as well for such large items).

If you miss these early July Fourth sales, you can still score deals and savings on great appliance brands in stock and still in stores. One way is to look for a damaged box or a floor-model version of a product you want and ask an employee for a discount. We know Lowe’s employees may work with you on the price since each Lowe’s associate can take up to $50 off certain items if you ask.

Slickdeals Tip: Make sure you’re using your store credit card in order to take advantage of special interest rates, financing options and rewards offers that you can stack with these super low prices. Currently, Lowe’s is offering 24 months special financing, Best Buy offers 18-24 months and Home Depot is offering up to 24 months.

2. Buy Big Ticket Items on Sale, Like Dishwashers

Dishwashers are another major appliance that go on sale during the entire month of July. Again, CostcoHome DepotBest Buy and Lowe’s have their Fourth of July sales on now, with discounts on the purchase of multiple appliances, gift card bonuses on specific brands and plenty of other special offers.

Shoppers can score steep savings on microwaves in July, thanks again to an abundance of holiday appliance sales. For example, the highly-rated LG 0.9 cu ft Countertop Microwave Smart Inverter Stainless is currently just $99.99, which is $60 off the regular price at Target. This deal was found and posted by Slickdealer malacbe who also notes the same low price is available at the same time at Best Buy and Home Depot.

4. Scorching Deals on Ranges

If you’re updating your kitchen, July’s the time to install a new range, as the abundance of Fourth of July appliance sales makes saving easy. Don’t forget that most major retailers will price match their competitors, so you can bundle items easily at your favorite store.

Slickdeals Tip: Slickdeals rounds up the best deals, sales and discounts on stoves constantly and updates the deals, so you always get the best price no matter what time of year you are shopping to upgrade your range, stovetop or oven. 5. Cool Savings on Fridges

Keep your cool by scoring a sweet deal on a new fridge during a Fourth of July appliance sale. Many manufacturers ship out new models in June, meaning that retailers are doing everything they can to clear out last year’s units ASAP — making for some STEEP savings on anything that’s still left in stock in July, and by the end of July, the deal should get even better.

6. Grills: Yes and No

Once Fourth of July celebrations have passed, retailers begin dropping prices on outdoor items such as grills and patio furniture. If you want to get the best price on a grill while still having time to enjoy it for the season, now’s the time to buy. You could hold out until after Labor Day when prices are even lower, but you’ll find there’s less selection, and most of the prime grilling season is over. Ahead are a few grill deals with some good through mid-month, but if you want to save even more on grills, buy in the Fall.

Gander Outdoors is offered 50% off outdoor grills and accessories, as well as 25% off propane tanks for Good Sam members in July. Plus, trade your email to earn 10% off your first order. Likewise, you can save 10% by providing your email at Camping World in addition to their current deals on grills and fire pits. Lastly, both Lowe’s and Home Depot are offering up to $50 off select Weber Genesis II Series grills until July 13. Again, if you miss any of these July sales, circle back in September to get the grill of your dreams at a low price – probably even lower than if you were to buy now.

7. Get Peace of Mind with a Good Deal on Home Security Cameras

Best Buy has the popular and user-friendly Arlo system on sale for up to $200 off the regular price while Home Depot has the Arlo, Ring and Oco brands on sale. The same Ring cameras (like this Ring Stick Up HD security camera with two-way talk for 15% off) are also on sale at Amazon and with Prime, you can also get free fast shipping.

8. Stock Up on Insect Repellent for Summer

It’s not much of a surprise that a seasonal item like insect repellent is most affordable during the warmer months, but July is an especially good month to score savings on this summer must-have, as retailers start clearing out stock to make room for back-to-school items. Check the container for an expiration date, and you can pick up enough repellent to get you through next summer. If you have a large family who spends a lot of time outdoors, you can also save big on kid-safe bug sprays on Amazon, like a huge savings of 40% off if you set up an auto-ship order on Amazon Choice Quantum Health Buzz Away Extreme DEET-free Insect Repellent and Essential Oil Bug Spray (8 Fl Oz).

9. Deep Savings on Dehumidifiers

Most homes that have a moisture problem will need a dehumidifier during the wetter spring months, which means purchases often lag as summer’s heat sets in. Look for the best price on dehumidifiers in July as a result. Best Buy currently has Whynter models on sale up to 25% off while Home Depot has the Honeywell ENERGY STAR 50-Pint Dehumidifier with Washable Filter for $229.99, $30 off its regular price and less than MSRP.

10. Home Improvements Cost Less with Paint/Wood Stain Deals

Warmer weather and summer vacations make it a prime time to tackle outdoor maintenance projects. As such, supplies like paint and wood stain are frequently on sale this time of year.

Home Depot has savings on paint sprayers and accessories as part of its Red, White & Blue sale, and Lowe’s has select Valspar stains (which only need one coat!) for 15% off currently.

July is an excellent month for deals on strollers, with many stores offering discounts on strollers and travel systems. BuyBuyBaby has 25% off the Cybex Eezy S Twist stroller and travel system on sale in July. Target has a designated “stroller deals” section that’s updated regularly, and Walmart had savings of up to $50 off the brand Baby Trend in July as well. And Bed, Bath & Beyond has Cybex and Silver Cross strollers at clearance pricing, with free shipping to boot!

If you want to score the best deal possible on your new wheels, make sure you add the item to your baby registry, as many retailers offer a discount to expectant parents on any items still left on their registry before baby arrives. BuyBuyBaby also offers a coupon for 20% off a single item for new email subscribers and special financing via their store credit card. They also have a MyOffers program for additional savings on the mobile app.

You can also set a deal alert on your favorite stroller brand to ensure you never miss a sale or discount.

Slickdeals Tip: Target has an impressive price matching policy and will match lower prices of 25 stores in case you find a stroller price cheaper elsewhere, including many of the retailers noted above.

12. Take Advantage of ‘Black Friday in July’ Sales

Due to the enormous success of Amazon Prime Day which traditionally happens in July (except for this year), tons of other top brands and stores lined up to offer amazing savings for people looking for deals online – thus, the infamous ‘Black Friday in July’ sales were created to compete with Amazon Prime Day and have stuck around. Right now, Macy’s is having a huge Black Friday in July sale with price markdowns across tons of items in almost all of its departments from clothing to kitchen items to even mattresses. Plus, to make these offers even better you can take another 25% off the top of select items. Look for similar sales from Target, Walmart, Best Buy and others to pop up during July.

Save Your Money: Buy These Items After July to Save

If a new computer is on your list, you can find some amazing deals in July (both Dell and HP recently offered some great July Fourth deals –with Dell extending their laptop and tech deals through July 22). But, if you want or need to hold off on this purchase until August or September when back-to-school sales start, you can still take advantage of significant savings on tech. Same goes for printers, which are also on steep discount during the lead up to class heading back in session.

Wireless routers are another high tech item to snag in August or September, and if you’re looking to clean your home from top to bottom once the kids are out of the house and back in the classroom, vacuum cleaners and steam irons are also at their best pricing in August.

And if Prime day sales do happen as rumored in Fall, make sure to take advantage of any additional savings then!
