work for you?
From now through October 28th, 2018 at GameStop, gamers can earn credit towards a new Xbox One X by trading in older or otherwise unwanted consoles. The Xbox One X typically costs around $500, and trading in newer systems can get you between $250 to $300 off.
We saw GameStop offer a similar deal in August, but this time your new Xbox One X will come with a digital copy of State of Decay 2. That makes this one of the lowest prices ever for an Xbox One X bundle deal in terms of dollars spent.
Depending on the staff at your local GameStop, you may even be able to apply this deal to other Xbox One X bundles, like Red Dead Redemption 2, Fallout 76, or Battlefield V.
We've got all the details to help you get the most out of this promotion. If you've wanted to buy the Xbox One X but have been waiting for the price to drop, now's the time to pull the trigger.
It's unlikely you'll find a better deal, even if you wait for Black Friday.

How Does the Xbox One X Trade-In Offer Work?
GameStop will always take your old games and devices. You can even get a free online trade offer to see what your electronics may be worth. But for this specific promotion, they've sweetened the deal.
GameStop is offering extra cash towards a new Xbox One X when you trade in one of five specific consoles, listed here:
And as with most GameStop trade-in promotions, you'll have to make the trade in person at a brick-and-mortar location.
Back in August, some Slickdealers reported that you could even trade in multiple consoles to get more trade-in credits. That seems to be the same case this year. Just remember that these prices aren't guarantees, and all of your trades depend on the employees at your local GameStop.
Since it's all up to the manager's discretion, they could technically offer you nothing for a new PS4. Just make sure your console's in working condition and hope for the best.
How to Get the Most Out of This Deal
It seems like the key to getting the highest value out of this promotion is finding the right GameStop. Slickdealer asbernard said that "My local gamestop said that i could get any of the bundles. I pre-ordered the Fallout 76 Edition... so it's worth asking that question."
Additionally, Slickdealer InspectorButterz noted that "If this is like the last deal, the trades WILL stack but ONLY if you bring in consoles from different price tiers. If you bring in 2 Xbox One OG, only 1 of them will get the full $200, the second one will only trade in for base value. However, if you bring in and OG Xbox One and a PS4, you can get $450 towards the new console."
But again, this deal is going to vary by GameStop. While it's definitely worth asking, it's possible your local store may only accept one trade-in console per transaction.
And if you have the time, you should out multiple GameStops near you to see which one will give you the best value.
Now, it is worth noting that GameStop doesn't offer the best base-level price. In August, Slickdeals user SiXiam explained that, "the Xbox One X price [at GameStop] is higher than Amazon and other stores."
That remains true now. At $499.99, GameStop does have its One X priced around $25 to $50 higher than other outlets. But the addition of State of Decay 2 (or another bundled game, if your local GameStop allows) helps to mitigate that price discrepancy.
Lastly, sales tax still applies on the full $499.99 price, regardless of discount. Make sure to factor that into your budget before pulling the trigger.
Should You Wait for a Better Price?
If you no longer play some of your systems and you've been meaning to upgrade, this deals seems hard to pass up. Especially if you know the staff at your local GameStop is generous! Just be sure to watch the conversation on Slickdeals to ensure that GameStop doesn't put additional conditions in place.
However, in order to get that nearly free Xbox One X, you have to be willing to trade in a couple of newer systems. And not everyone is ready to part with their consoles.
If you don't want to get rid of all your other systems, consider waiting until Black Friday to find deals that don't require a trade. While it's highly unlikely you'll get anything close to these discounts, it won't require you to get rid of an old device.
