TVs, laptops, and consoles -- oh my! As expected, last year we saw a number of excellent deals on gaming and day-to-day tech from electronics retailer Dell.

Black Friday 2018 is fast approaching, and that can only mean one thing: it's time to review what we saw last year to best prepare for what might be coming this year. Let's take a page from last year's book and consider what we're likely to see from Dell in 2018.

When Will the Dell Black Friday Ad Scan Be Released?

Dell dropped their Black Friday ad scan for 2017 bright and early on November 1st. Since retailers tend to stick to the same release schedules, we can safely presume that the Dell ad scan for 2018 will drop either exactly on the first of November again, or at within the first week of November.

What Time Does Dell Open on Black Friday and Thanksgiving?

Dell's 2017 Black Friday's doorbusters started at 11AM on Thanksgiving Day, and the sale ran the following day (November 23-24th) -- much to the chagrin of family members across the nation.

Unfortunately for your 2018 Thanksgiving plans, Dell brick-and-mortar locations will probably follow suit again this year, opening on Thanksgiving Day and going through the next day. Plan on either eating your turkey on the way or getting your shopping done early and high-tailing it back home.

When Does the Sale Begin Online?

After 2017 Black Friday's in-store doorbusters, Dell ran a Cyber Monday sale starting on November 27th, and a Cyber Week starting November 26th and running into December.

This sharp distinction between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is not unique to every retailer, and may or may not be the case with Dell again this year. If they hold to their pattern, you can expect to see online deals go live after Black Friday has run its course.

What Doorbuster Deals Can We Expect from Dell?

Particularly excellent doorbuster deals from Dell's 2017 Black Friday primarily involved computers and smart HD TVs. Since no break-through technology has caused either of those particular product categories to become defunct (yet) we can probably expect Dell to come through for us again in these areas for 2018.

Based on the prices available last year, and other current and competitive prices, here are a few of our predicted sale items for Dell's Black Friday 2018:

  • Sony PS4 1TB Console | 2017 price: $199.99; 2018 predicted price: $179.99
  • Ultimate Ears MEGABOOM Bluetooth Speaker | 2017 price: $199.99; 2018 predicted price: $115.99
  • JBL Charge 3 Bluetooth Speaker | 2017 price: $89.95; 2018 predicted price: $79.95
  • Inspiron Desktop | 2017 price: $379.99; 2018 predicted price: $359.99
  • LG 65" 4K Smart HDR Ultra HDTV | 2017 price: $799.99 (plus $150 Dell Promo eGift Card); 2018 predicted price: $729.99 (plus $150 Dell Promo eGift Card)

Which Deals Are Usually Best at Dell on Black Friday?

People go to Dell for the electronics, and they'll undoubtedly be why you're there on Black Friday. Deals on laptops, TVs, gaming consoles, and speakers were abundant and excellent last year, and since Dell still specializes in all of the same, this probably will be the case for 2018, as well.

Here are a few of the most impressive deals from last year's Black Friday:

  • VIZIO 60" 4K Smart HDR Ultra HDTV (plus $200 Dell Promo eGift Card) for $699.99 (Reg. Price: $969.99)
  • Inspiron Small Desktop for $199.99 (Reg. Price: $379.99)
  • Inspiron 24 5000 Touch All-in-One Desktop for $649.99 (Reg. Price: $849.99)
  • Thrustmaster & Forza Racing Bundle for $259.99 (Reg. Price: $509.97)
  • Dell Wireless 360 Speaker System for $89.99 (Reg. Price: $149.99)

When's the Best Time to Shop?

If you're an online shopper, wait for Dell's Cyber Week. If you can't resist the brick-and-mortar doorbusters, however, we'll have to recommend you skip out on your morning Thanksgiving festivities and get there early.

Now, while Dell offers great deals, quantities tend to be limited and the best offers can sell out quickly. The lesson? Know what you want. Get there early. Get out fast.

More Ways to Save at Dell on Black Friday

If you intend to shop with Dell, consider signing up for Dell Advantage Rewards, where you'll receive 3% back after every purchase towards future purchases. If you apply for their financing program, your rewards are even greater.

Prior to Black Friday, you could also consider trading in your old electronics in exchange for a Dell Gift Card, and then immediately blow that gift card on new electronics at Dell on Black Friday.
