work for you?
For a wide range of household must-haves, JCPenney is your one-stop shop on Black Friday 2018. 2017's JCPenney Black Friday saw a plethora of products subject to deep discounts, as well as extra offerings from JCPenney (like in-store coupons for early shoppers). For predictions of the future, let's first consider the past.
When Will the JCPenney Black Friday Ad Scan Be Released?
In 2017, JCPenney released its 72-page Black Friday ad scan on November 1st. Keeping with the trend, it's likely that JCPenney will release its 2018 Black Friday ad scan within the first week of November, if not again on the 1st.
Considering the substantial length of 2017's ad scan, consumers needed all that extra time until Black Friday to review their options on deals for products. If the ad scan is even half as large this year, we can only hope the publication date will be early again.
What Time Does JCPenney Open on Black Friday and Thanksgiving?
JCPenney was open on Thanksgiving from 2PM to 12AM last year, and on Black Friday from 12AM to 10PM. You'll probably be looking to gobble down your turkey early this year as well, since we'll likely see an afternoon opening time for JCPenney again this year.
Just be sure to contact your local store for details before you head over, as hours can vary by location.
When Does the Sale Begin Online?
In 2017, online deals began as early as November 19th, but the majority of deals weren't available until November 23rd.
With the increasing popularity of digital commerce, it's possible JCPenney will expand that early online sale again this year. Then again, it could double down on brick-and-mortar doorbusters instead. At the very least, we can likely expect to see some deals online go live on Thanksgiving.
What Doorbuster Deals Can We Expect from JCPenney?
During Black Friday 2017, JCPenney had doorbuster deals for everything from coffee-makers to gaming consoles. The following are a few of the stand-out doorbusters we saw last year, and predictions for what sorts of deals we might see this year:
- GE 30-inch Free-Standing Electric Range | 2017 price: $495; 2018 predicted price: $425.99
- Keurig K55 Brewer | 2017 price: $59.99; 2018 predicted price: $49.99
- LG 65-inch Class 4K UHD HDR Smart TV | 2017 price: $799.99; 2018 predicted price: $759.99
- JCPenney Home Mink Comforter | 2017 price: $59.99; 2018 predicted price: $45.99
- Google Home | 2017 price: $79.99; 2018 predicted price: $65.99
- Melissa & Doug Art Easel | 2017 price: $24.99; 2018 predicted price: $19.99
Which Deals Are Usually Best at JCPenney on Black Friday?
JCPenney-specific products, such as towels and its line of linens, tend to be steeply discounted on Black Friday.
Since you can't get these products from any other retailer, you'll want to stock up on Black Friday if you're a JCPenney diehard. Last year we saw great deals on kitchen appliances as well, and even certain home electronics.
Here are a handful of some of the more memorable deals from JCPenney's Black Friday Sale in 2017:
- 21.8 CU. FT. 30-inch 3-Door French Door Refrigerator for $995 (Reg. Price: $1,699)
- GE 30-inch Free-Standing Electric Range for $495 (Reg. Price: $799)
- Home Expressions Down-Alternative Comforter (Any Size) for $20 (Reg. Price: $79 to $119)
- JCPenney Home Oversized Curve Memory Foam Pillow for $9.99 (Reg. Price: $39)
- Victrola 6-in-1 Turntable for $79.99 (Reg. Price: $149)
- Men's IZOD Fleece for $19.99 (Reg. Price: $55)
- Men's Dockers Signature Khaki with Stretch for $29.99 (Reg. Price: $62)
- Disney Collection 9-PK Princess Doll Set for $49.99 (Reg. Price: $100)
When's the Best Time to Shop?
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, we'll have to say, once again, earlier is better. When it comes to Black Friday, a massive rush can always be safely expected, even for retailers that may not seem as popular during other times of the year.
If you're committed to JCPenney deals and want to shop in-store, especially when it comes to electronics and appliances, you'll want to be there as early as you can be. There's more flexibility for deals on things like towels and clothing, but even these are likely to run out of stock faster than you'd expect.
More Ways to Save at JCPenney on Black Friday
Last year, JCPenney's Black Friday temptation offered sizable coupons to in-store customers. If you made it in early enough, you could score a $500-off $500 coupon, a $100-off $100 coupon, or a $10-off $10 coupon.
Needless to say, these coupons alone were reason enough for shoppers to consider JCPenney as their Black Friday destination. They also ran a promo for major appliance purchases, offering a rebate via a Visa Card for applicable purchases.
Even if JCPenney doesn't run any of these promos for 2018 Black Friday, you could still save by joining the JCPenney Rewards program. You get a $10 reward for every 200 points earned. With the JCPenney Credit Card, you earn those rewards twice as fast.
