JCPenney is the hub for all things home. Looking for cozy new towels? JCPenney. Want a blender for making smoothies? JCPenney. A new fridge? JCPenney. For all those reasons and more, we've been looking forward to checking out JCPenney's Black Friday deals. And friends, those deals have been announced.
The JCPenney Black Friday ad is finally here! Just like last year, this ad is a full 72 pages long. That's right -- 72. Pages. Long. For JCPenney fanatics, that's astoundingly good news. For the average person? That's a whole lot of advertisements to wade through. Don't worry, since this is where we come in. We'll do the parsing for you.
What Time Does JCPenney Open on Black Friday and Thanksgiving?
While it is confirmed that JCPenney will be open both on Thanksgiving (Nov. 23) and Black Friday (Nov. 24), exact hours are still unclear. The JCPenney website seems to be intentionally vague, but given that last year JCPenney opened at 3:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving and 6:00 a.m. on Black Friday, we will probably see the same for 2017.
When Does the Sale Begin Online?
In 2016, JCPenney's online Black Friday deals technically began a day before Thanksgiving, at midnight. They also had a few deals that ran the weekend before Black Friday, so we'll probably see more of the same for 2017. The details, however, still have yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned for details as they are released.

Overall, JCPenney seems to be offering either identical or similar deals to the ones it gave us for Black Friday 2016. While we would love to see even better price drops than last year, at least prices are on par with previous years.
In terms of deals to avoid, we'd recommend you hold off on JCPenny's offer of the Nutri Ninja Blender with Auto-iQ for $69.99, as it was recently was sold by Wal-Mart for a much cheaper price. Additionally, be sure to cross check any prospective buys with the ad scans from Kohl's, Target and similar retailers.
While many of the big department stores tend to all have similar prices on things, Kohl's and Target will sometimes offer free gift cards or Kohl's Cash with your purchase. For example, while JCPenny's deals of $79.99 for Google Home isn't bad, you'll get the same price over at Kohl's, plus $15 in Kohl's Cash. Of course, if you manage to get your hands on one of those JCPenny coupons or if you don't see yourself using the Kohl's Cash, it could tip the scales in JCPenny's favor. Overall though, JCPenney's deals seem to be relatively safe.
The Best Time to Shop
The best time to shop typically depends on what you're hunting for. If you're interested in high-ticket items, like televisions and expensive appliances, the best offers will probably go sooner rather than later. You'll want to be in line at the actual storefront as soon as you can. For smaller items, it's probably safe to wait until actual Black Friday, rather than ditching your family and friends at Thanksgiving dinner.
If you're interested in the plethora of clothing goods and accessories that will be on sale, we would encourage you to either shop online early Thanksgiving morning or bail on dinner to be at the store for the early opening. It's hard enough as it is finding the right size, much less when you're waging war against a sea of like-minded clothing consumers.
More Ways to Save at JCPenney on Black Friday
JCPenney conveniently has a Rewards program, so if you're a true JCPenney enthusiast, you'll want to jump on that bandwagon as soon as possible -- especially if you're planning on dropping an entire paycheck at JCPenney on Black Friday. Those rewards will definitely add up, and you'll probably be shopping there both before and after Black Friday anyway.
JCPenney is also offering rebates, endless rebates, rebates for days, and on quite a few items. Don't just look at the prices themselves -- consider whether they come with a tasty rebate option attached. It also helps to build out your Black Friday wishlist ahead of time, instead of waiting until you're standing before the JCPenney doors themselves. That trains you to narrow in on your ideal purchases, and you can do some price-comparison beforehand.
