Amazon has some good news for fans of its audiobook service. Audible members can now take advantage of their book credits for up to 12 months instead of the previously allocated six.

This means more flexibility for listeners who may not finish a full book each month, or who simply forget to use their credits.

You can obtain Audible audiobook credits either on a one-off basis or by signing up for a membership. Current Audible membership options include:

  • Gold: $14.95/month(or $149.50/year) with a single monthly credit.
  • Platinum: $22.95/month (or $229.50/year) for two credits per month, plus special offers and discounts.

Typically, each credit is redeemable for one title of any value in the Audible store.

These new changes are the result of a class-action lawsuit brought by users of the Amazon service. The plaintiffs alleged that customers were losing out on credits due to short expiration times and unclear information about gifted credits and rollover penalties.

In addition to extending book credit lifespans, Amazon will also begin sending monthly statements to Audible members. These will detail used and available credits for members, making it easier to stay on top of things.

And if you find that you have unused credits, Audible now gives you the option to gift those books to friends and family.

Plus, subscribers gained the ability to place a hold on their accounts for one to three months once a year. If you have a busy stretch coming up, this new feature will prevent you from wasting credits.

Audible Two-for-One Deal on Select Audiobooks

If you’re an Audible member or thinking of signing up, the audiobook service is also currently offering a two-for-one deal on select audiobooks.
