At 50% Off, This Hydro Flask Tumbler Might Actually be Worth It

Nothing's worse than a lukewarm road beverage.

Over the past couple of years, Hydro Flask has developed an outspoken (bordering on Puritanical) cult following. Hikers, campers and other loyalists claim that these insulated cups and water bottles can keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold longer than the competition. Skeptics like Slickdealer aquaelvis, on the other hand, believe you can get the same thing for $7 at Walmart.

What is the truth?

Many who seek these answers are deterred by the high price point, but right now you can get select colors of Hydro Flasks for up to 50% off using the coupon code TUMBLER-4Q8RG9If you spend more than $60 before the discount, shipping is free.

This is one of the cheapest deals we’ve seen on Hydro Flask Tumblers in the last two years.

The discount applies to the 22-ounce and 32-ounce Insulated Tumblers. Plus, there’s a clearance sale going on alongside the 50% off promotion: Mint, Lava and Flamingo Hydro Flask Insulated Tumblers are marked down 25% as a result.

But don’t get too excited — the 50% off coupon does not stack on top of this discount.

Are Hyrdo Flask Tumblers Worth It?

For hikers and travelers prone to losing or breaking their thermoses and travel mugs, the Hydro Flask might be less of a risky investment at half the original price.
The tumblers’ main claim to fame, patented TempShield double wall insulation, is of particular use for travelers.

Hydro Flask claims that cold drinks will stay ice-cold for up to 24 hours, and that hot beverages will stay piping hot up to six hours. If the tumbler doesn’t live up to these expectations, it’s backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

The prospect of 32 ounces of hot coffee that lasts through a full day of winter camping and skiing sounds pretty appealing, almost as satisfying as chugging a bottle of ice cold water eight hours into a hike. For the environmentally minded, a refill at the airport Starbucks will hold its temperature through a trans-Atlantic flight.

It’s a tempting sell, but Slickdealers have mixed reviews of this trendy tumbler, regardless of the validity of patented technologies.

Jamesjamerson says that the lid design is poor and is not worth the price, even with the discount. Numerous users feel that the competitors available at Target and Walmart are just as effective at insulating at a fraction of the price, but sdseitz emphasized that the lifetime warranty and ability to avoid Walmart was their main motivation behind buying the fancier branded bottle.

Overall, this appears to be a good deal at the discounted price, which is not much more than the cheaper competitors. If you’re not convinced, the difference between 23 hours of cold water and five hours of hot probably won’t be the end of you.
