Black Friday 2016: These Are the Deals You Don't Want to Miss
Black Friday is coming up fast and new ad scans are released daily with hundreds of deals to look through. It's practically an impossible task for one person to look through and compare prices to see which deals are truly better than what you can get throughout the year. Kohl's ad scan, for example, is 64 pages long and has 596 deals; it would take an army to compare all those deals to the competition. Luckily, that's what we have over here at Slickdeals. Well, not an army, but a huge community of people who can spot a good deal from an average one; and they've already made it through a large number of deals, voting on the best Black Friday deal for 2016.
We will continue to update this page as new deals and more votes come in.
- Best Buy is the place to go for TVs this year
- Kohl's arguably has the best PS4 deal, Dell has the best Xbox One S deal
- Target has the best iPad and iPhone deals, and you get an extra 5% off everything with a Target REDCard
- Amazon devices can be purchased at B&M stores as well (such as Best Buy, Staples and Target)
- Google Home will be available for $99 at Best Buy
Video Game Deals
Gaming consoles are always popular this time of year, and with the Xbox One S and PS4 Pro now on the market, there's a high demand for console deals. Luckily, there's a high supply of them as well.
There are definitely more Xbox One S deals than PS4 Pro ones, which isn't too surprising considering the latter was just released on Nov. 10. The best Xbox deal we've seen is from Dell Home & Office, which is offering a Battlefield 1 bundle, plus Gears of War 4 and an extra Xbox One wireless controller for $249.99. This is an online only deal and will be live starting on 11/24/2016 at 9 p.m.
As for PS4 bundle deals, the best ones are for the standard PS4 console (although eBay has a discounted 1TB PS4 Pro on sale now for $370). You'll see the same price everywhere ($249.99), so the best deal depends on where you normally shop (and which game you like more). Reason being, you'll either get store credit in the form of gift cards or additional games and/or controllers to sweeten the deal. Kohl's Black Friday PS4 deal offers the most value by adding $75 in Kohl's Cash. Considering there are always several Kohl's coupons available, you can stretch that $75 pretty far when using it on your next purchase. This deal will be live online and in-store starting on 11/24/2016 at 12:00 a.m.
Walmart will give you $30 in Walmart gift cards when you buy the Uncharted 4 bundle. Best Buy will throw in two additional games with their Uncharted 4 bundle, while GameStop only offers one additional game and Costco includes an additional controller.
Don't forget to grab your video games from Walmart, as they have the best deals this year. You can get games like Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1, NBA 2K17, FIFA 17, Madden NFL 17, WWE 2K17 for $27.
It's easy to get carried away with Black Friday TV deals, but not all of them are quite as good as they seem. Many of the TVs offered during Black Friday are either lesser-known brands (and likely poorer quality) or they're derivative models that lack features you've come to expect from modern TVs. That doesn't necessarily mean they're junk and will break within a couple of months, but you get what you pay for with these.
Best 4K TV Deal Under 50 Inches
Remember when 4K TVs were $2,000+? Not so much anymore. The 49-inch Toshiba 4K Smart LED HDTV with Chromecast built-in is available at Best Buy for $199. This model is not specific to Black Friday, but it looks like it's a Best Buy exclusive model. The ratings are mostly positive (4.1 out of 5), but a few have complained about the backlight and contrast, so picture quality could be a small issue. Our biggest gripe with this TV is you can only get it in-store, so you'll have to fight the crowds to get your hands on one.
Dell has a 43-inch LG 4K Ultra HD Smart TV (model 43UH6030) + $30 Dell Promo eGift Card for $299.99 available online only. Walmart also has a 55-inch Philips Smart 4K HDTV for $298, but it's most likely a derivative model (no model number listed) and it's only available in-store.
Best 4K TV Deal Over 50 Inches
When it comes to 4K TVs, the bigger the better. The further away you sit from your 4K TV, the bigger the screen you'll need to notice a drastic difference from 1080p. This 60-inch LG 4K Ultra HD Smart LED HDTV from Best Buy for $599 is an excellent deal. However, it's worth noting you can buy it today for $699 because it's already on sale. If you have the right credit card, you could buy it today, file a price protection claim after Black Friday and get $100 reimbursed. No need to wait in line or risk that they'll sell out online.
If you want to go bigger than 60 inches, Best Buy (who else) has a 70" Vizio 4K Ultra HD LED Home Theater Display TV (E70-E3) with Chromecast built-in for $999. However, for some reason, it was recently selling for even cheaper, at just $929.99, and can now be purchased for the Black Friday advertised price.
Target is the place to shop if you're in the market for an iPad. They have the iPad Air 2 (32GB) advertised for $274, which is $126 less than the list price and $51 cheaper than the last Frontpage deal we've had. If you have the Target REDCard, you can get an additional 5% off and only pay $260.
Target is also the place to go if you want an iPhone 7. Well-qualified customers can get the 7 or 7 Plus for $0 down and a $250 Target gift card with purchase and activation of a Verizon Device Payment, AT&T Next, Sprint 24-Month Installments or Lease plan.
Target is also adding a $250 gift card when you get the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge+, plus you get the Samsung Gear VR headset and $50 Oculus content pack. Best Buy has the Samsung Galaxy S7 4G LTE with 32GB Memory Cell Phone (Unlocked in various colors) and free shipping for $549.99.
We were hoping to see the Amazon Echo on sale for $120 on Black Friday/Cyber Monday, but it looks like Amazon won't go lower than $139. You could go the refurbished route and knock it down to $119 though. According to Amazon, "every Certified Refurbished Amazon Device is backed by the same limited warranty as a brand-new device," so it's definitely worth considering. An alternative to the Echo is Google's new Google Home, which normally retails for $129, but will be on sale for $99 at Best Buy. That's a great deal, considering it's been on the market for less than a month. You can read more about Google Home here.
- Amazon Echo Dot for $39.99 ($10 off). You can get it at Staples and Amazon (obviously) for that price.
- Amazon Tap for $89.99 ($40 off). This is $10 more than the pre-Black Friday deal available via voice shopping on Alexa-enabled devices.
- Kindle Paperwhite for $99.99 ($20 off).
- Kindle for $49.99 ($30 off).
- Amazon Fire TV for $74.99 ($25 off)
- Fire TV Stick w/Alexa Voice Remote for $29.99 ($10 off).
- Fire HD 8 for $59.99 ($30 off).
- Fire tablet for $33.33 ($16.66 off)
If you're shopping for things around the house (small kitchen appliances, sheets, towels, vacuum cleaners, etc.), Kohl's is your best bet. As far as prices go, you'll see very similar ones between Kohl's, Macy's, JC Penny and other department stores. Kohl's, however, is offering $15 in Kohl's Cash for every $50 you spend, and you can also use coupon codes to save more money. Some of the best home deals include:
- The Big One Bath Towels for $2.99 (Kohl's)
- Farberware Air Fryer for $39.00 (Walmart)
- Cuisinart kitchen electrics after $30 mail-in rebate plus $15 Kohl's Cash (Kohl's)
- Reversible down comforters, all sizes, for $19.99 (Kohl's)
- Dyson DC39 Ball Multifloor Pro Canister Vacuum for $249.99 (Macy's)
- 70% off all memory foam pillows and toppers (Macy's)
We hope you get the chance to snag some great deals this week, but remember, you can find Black Friday-caliber deals throughout the year by using Slickdeals.
