Our Community Has a Lot of Thoughts on This 6.6-Lb. Bag of Whey Supplement

It's cheap, but should you buy it?

At Slickdeals, we work hard to help you find the best deals. To do this, some of the products featured here are from our partners, who may provide us with compensation. However, this doesn’t influence our opinions. Our views are our own.

While a 70% discount undoubtedly qualifies as a “deal,” this promotion from My Protein ignited a back-and-forth amongst the Slickdeals community. One of the site’s draws, and frankly integral components, is its dedicated user-base, who offer different levels of expertise and experience to virtually any promotion.

Just in time for the influx of New Year’s fitness resolutions, MyProtein.com now offers its Impact Whey Isolate for a fraction of its usual cost. Customers may buy up to 6.6 pounds of protein for only $36, a 3/4 price difference from the original price of $120.

However, some Slickdeals users suggest this deal may offset whatever “gains” you hope to make in the new year, so give it a good look through before you hit “Complete Purchase.”

The Promotion

The promotion is available here, where you will select three 2.2-lbs of Impact Whey Isolate for purchase. It comes in 10 flavors, which you are free to mix and match. Once you head to the checkout, apply the promo code ISO36 for a full price of $36, much cheaper than the typical rate.

Check Deal

Previously on Black Friday/Cyber Monday, MyProtein offered a deal on 11-Lb bags for over 30% off. Some users did point out that it may be better to wait for such a deal, as you basically get double the amount for a better cost ratio.

The Debate

Most users seem either enthusiastic or at least pleasantly curious about the deal, though as mentioned above, more bang-for-your-buck deals may be worth waiting for in 2020.

User zdrunkenmonkeyz pointed out that one should pay attention to the nutritional information for these supplements. According to them, this isolate isn’t packing a ton of protein, meaning you go through it faster than other supplements.

Additionally, other users pointed out the importance of checking for expiration dates as well as flavorings. With regards to flavorings, they say to be aware that sweet flavors come artificially with Splenda, which many people have a distaste for or consider as unhealthy as regular sugar. To avoid this, they advise buying the unsweetened isolate and then adding your own flavor, thereby ensuring you maximize your taste and your gains.
