Southwest Vacations is Giving Away a Free Trip to Costa Rica

Enter through the end of 2019 for your chance to win.

At Slickdeals, we work hard to help you find the best deals. To do this, some of the products featured here are from our partners, who may provide us with compensation. However, this doesn’t influence our opinions. Our views are our own.

As exciting as the holiday season is, we’d be lying if we said we couldn’t all benefit from a free luxury beach vacation. Fortunately, from now until December 31st, you can enter to win a free trip to Costa Rica courtesy of Southwest Airlines. You don’t need to purchase anything to enter, you only need to fill out this form.

What Would I Win?

The winner gets to select their preferred airport to depart from, and they may bring one lucky guest along for the ride — Southwest Companion Pass users enjoy this benefit all the time, by the way. The Southwest Vacations package includes:

  • Round trip air travel on Southwest Airlines to Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR)
  • A four-night stay at the Riu Guanacaste luxury resort
  • Round trip airport and hotel transfers

The winners will be selected on January 10th, 2020. You have the option to travel (almost) any time between February 1st and December 15th, 2020.

Riu Guanacaste comes with some pretty sweet amenities. There is no shortage of places to eat, with the choice of a hearty buffet and a number of themed restaurants and bars. The resort also offers a gym, a wide variety of outdoor sports, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking and seemingly ever other water activity you can imagine.

Alright, So What’s the Catch?

In the broadest sense, there isn’t one. However, there are a few fine print things you should know before you enter.
  • You will have to pay international travel fees and taxes on each of your flights, which will run you an extra $5.60 (or perhaps a little more)
  • You have to be a legal resident of the United States, and Alaskans are unfortunately excluded
  • You and your companion must be 21 or older
  • Personal expenses are not included in the prize
  • Hotel rooms are not available between February 12th and February 22nd, April 8th through April 13th, May 23rd through May 30th, June 27th through July 4th and November 21st through November 28th.

All told, this seems like a pretty reasonable list of exclusions.

Many Slickdeals users agree that Southwest’s Rapid Rewards program is one of the best airline rewards offers on the market. If you were annoyed by those hotel blackout dates, joining Southwest Rapid Rewards will alleviate that problem by allowing you to fly whenever you want.
