Starbucks is welcoming summer with the comeback of one of its most quintessential flavors: the S’mores Frappuccino. The coffee chain will re-release the fan favorite for a limited time — reportedly through the Summer 2019 season — beginning April 30th.

Launched in 2015 as a seasonal flavor, the Starbucks S’mores Frappuccino was an annual summer hit. In fact, the green goddess claimed it rivaled the Pumpkin Spice Latte in terms of demand.

But when the drink didn’t appear on the menu in 2018, campfire huddlers mourned their loss and clamored for s’more.

In 2019, Starbucks decided not to make that same mistake again. Through a series of Instagram teases and fan retweets, the coffee conglomerate slowly announced the seasonal return of its chocolatey, marshmallowy, graham crackery frozen coffee delight.

The exciting return of the S’mores Frapp comes on the heels of some lightly roasted Starbucks drama, however.

Starbucks' New Rewards Program

In March 2019, the chain announced changes to its Rewards membership program. The changes, implemented April 16th, impacted more than 16 million members. Some Starbucks customers reported experiencing a few bumps during the transition.

After Starbucks sent an email to its Rewards members outlining the changes, some customers worried they’d lose the stars they already had. Others viewed the program update as an overall devaluation, like Slickdealer ForbidInjustice. Previously, Starbucks Reward members worked up from “green” status to “gold” status by earning stars.

However, under the new plan, customers who had less than 300 stars and were still considered green status dropped back down to a zero balance. Could the return of the S’mores Frapp be in part to help distract from the frenzy surrounding the new Rewards program rollout?

The 16-oz grande size S’mores Frappuccino costs approximately $5.35 — and can earn you up to 10 stars — while supplies last. And be sure to set a Deal Alert with us to stay updated on the latest Starbucks offers.
