UPDATE: As of September 30th, 2019, YouTube TV is also now available on the following devices: 2nd gen Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick 4K, the All-New Fire TV Cube, all Toshiba, Insignia, Element and Westinghouse Fire TV Edition smart TVs and most previous generation Fire TV devices. The only devices we’re sure don’t work are the original Fire TV Stick and Fire TV.

Google and Amazon have been locking horns for years — in 2018 the YouTube app actually vanished from all Amazon’s streaming devices — but things seem to be changing in Silicon Valley. In July 2019, the two corporate titans announced the return of the YouTube app to select Amazon streaming devices and branded smart TVs, including the Amazon Fire TV stick.

Slickdealer grandmasterzii points out this deal goes both ways, as Amazon Prime Video is also now available to stream on Google Chromecast and Android TV (though some Android TV-enabled televisions never lost access).

While it seems like Amazon and Google have thawed their chilly relationship, the two companies may not be as chummy as this news might have you believe. The YouTube App is still being excluded from certain Amazon Echo Show devices.

The feud began in January 2018 when Google pulled YouTube from Amazon’s streaming devices. According to Google, this was in response to Amazon’s decision not to sell Google devices on its store. Amazon has since changed its position on Google devices, but there are still some areas of contention. Google Home, a rival to Amazon’s Alexa and Echo speakers, is still banned from the Amazon store.

Regardless of the tensions that still exist, this is a day of celebration for Fire TV and Chromecast owners.
