After selling out of the original Echo Dot on Prime Day, Amazon is now ready to release its second-generation model of the tiny speaker/voice-controlled device for $49.99.

The original Dot sold for $89.99, so the fact that the new version is $40 cheaper is very tempting. Not to mention, Amazon is currently running a promo where you can buy five and get an extra one for free with coupon code DOT6PACK. Or you can buy 10 and get two for free (DOT12Pack). The new Dot is also available in white if you want to switch it up.

So what do you use this little thing for? Well, you can do pretty much everything you can with the Amazon Echo (see our Amazon Echo review); order pizza, play music from Spotify and even control many of your other smart devices at home. You can even connect it to your other bluetooth speakers and then use the Dot to control your music selection with your voice.

It's a cool little device that is now more reasonably priced. With the buy five, get one free deal,  it's our early front-runner for best Christmas gift deal of the year. You can order it starting today, but it won't ship until October 20th.
