While others might be snagging the newest Alexa or other gadgets during the Prime Day excitement, my budget mama plan is to stock up on diapers, cleaning supplies and snacks. Allow me (a mom with a family of five and an experienced Prime Day deal hunter) to let you in on the best groceries and necessities to buy during Prime Day — your future self will thank you.
Slick Tip: Prime Day is the best day to shop these items because not only are they on sale, but you can usually stack Subscribe & Save savings on top, making this a double score.
Save up to 50% on Diapers
If you have a baby, you know the feeling of literally throwing your money away each time you change a diaper. So, Prime Day is a great way to save money by shopping top baby essentials (and stocking up) on Prime Day.
Last year, Amazon offered 20% off its mama bear brand, and this year the deal is even better this year with 30% off during Prime Day.
Slick Tip: Combine this savings with a 20% off Amazon Family discount for Subscribe & Save, and you can pay less than $10 to $15 per package. When you use diaper math, that is a whole lot of savings.
Savings experts think that many other diaper brands will be up to 50% off this Prime Day but you’ll have to search for your preferred brands.
If you need diapers ASAP, you can catch these brands and sizes on pre–Prime Day sale now:
Luvs, Size 1 (252 ct.) – Sale Price: $23.09 with 30% off Exclusive Prime Day Deal | Reg. Price: $35.99
Slick Tip: Save another 0% when you receive 5 or more products in one auto-delivery to one address.
Cuties Complete Care Baby Diapers, Size 5 (152 ct.) – Sale Price: $36.58 | Reg. Price: $39.99
Slick Tip: Save an extra 25% on your first Subscribe & Save order.
Slick Tip: For parents wanting to stock up, I strongly recommend favoring the next size up rather than buying too much in your baby’s current size. If your little one hasn’t made their arrival yet, skip newborn size and snag a few packs of 1s and 2s to benefit the most from this sale. Here’s our full guide to how much to pay for diapers and how many to stock up on.
Save up to 20% on Cleaning and Home Essentials
So far, Amazon has announced that shoppers can save up to 20% on select Scott, Kleenex and WypALL products starting now. Right now, Scott toilet paper is as low as seven cents per 100 sheets when you shop Subscribe & Save.
We expect other cleaning supplies and toiletries to go 20 to 30% off too. I like to buy extra paper towels, trash bags, dishwasher detergent and laundry detergent when I can stack savings. I buy enough now so that I don’t have to worry about buying it until after Christmas, and I use that extra savings for gifts instead.
Keep the Snack Pantry Full With Discounted Snacks and Food
Snacks seem to disappear just as quickly as diapers. When shopping Amazon for snacks during Prime Day, look for Amazon-branded goodies, such as Happy Belly and Wickedly Prime for the best chance for any discounts.
Since you’ll want to shop Subscribe & Save to save the most, shop for your future snack needs, remembering to stock up on extra if you plan to have a birthday party or play date.
Of course, Amazon can announce special savings on name-brand goodies, which can make your pantry stock up even sweeter. Last Prime Day, shoppers were able to save 30% or more on select pantry staples from Campbell’s, IZZE, Planters, Quaker and RXBAR.
