With Labor Day sales over and Halloween soon approaching, October is a spooktacular time to save on final-stock sales and to avoid the upcoming Black Friday shopping crowds. To help you get monster savings, the deal experts at Slickdeals have determined the best things to look out for this month. Read on for more details:
Fall items like denim and outerwear are usually stocked at the beginning of the season in September, but if you hold off until October you can get even better prices. Last year, JCPenney had a sale on Levi’s Jeans starting at $13 for men’s styles, and Lucky Brand Jeans offered 50% off sale styles. This October, use the code MANAGE4 to save an extra 30% off sitewide at JCPenney. You can also expect to save big on remaining back-to-school and summer clearance apparel from retailers like Aeropostale, Gap, Nordstrom Rack, Land’s End, and Banana Republic.
Columbus Day is not the most popular holiday to shop, but we do expect to see many end-of-season sales on home goods, such as outdoor patio items, appliances, and mattresses. This time would be ideal for shoppers who don’t mind choosing from a limited selection of remaining stock items. Slickdeals observed that JCPenney sold comforter and bedding sets for under $30, Macy’s had their annual Columbus Day Mattress and Furniture Sale event, Walmart sold grills at discounted prices, and Lowe’s had a 50% off clearance sale. We also predict that there will be sitewide sales and additional discounts on select styles of shoes from brands like Sperry, Reebok, and Puma during Columbus Day. Use the code ANNWELCOME4 to save $25 off $75 full price items at Ann Taylor this year.
Your kids may get a bucket of free candy during Halloween, but did you know that it’s actually one of the most expensive holidays to celebrate? Have no fear because the longer you can wait to shop for Halloween, the sweeter the discounts on candy, costumes, and decor will be. Walmart had a clearance sale on accessories and costumes starting at $1 so we expect to see similar prices again. Previously, Hot Topic offered up to 75% off select character costumes, like the Marvel Deadpool costume that sold for only $15. This year, Hot Topic is offering 20% off sitewide (including clearance items) with code HT20.
Save yourself a trip to the store by ordering your favorite variety candy packs (such as Mars, Airheads, and Brach’s) from Amazon for less than $15 a bag. If you’re not already a member, you can sign up for memberships at wholesale retailers like Costco and Sam’s Club to help you stock up for Halloween and maybe even get supplies for Thanksgiving or Christmas as well! Once the trick-or-treating festivities are over, shop the clearance aisles for next year’s Halloween.
Lastly, while it may be tempting to buy newly released video games coming out this month, wait for Black Friday and Cyber Monday to save on electronics, games, and digital entertainment. Stay tuned for our November money-saving guide.
