These Flights to Europe are Just $1, But are They Worth It?

Honestly? It depends.

At Slickdeals, we work hard to help you find the best deals. To do this, some of the products featured here are from our partners, who may provide us with compensation. However, this doesn’t influence our opinions. Our views are our own.

One dollar flights to Europe may seem too good to be true, but not with Contiki. The tour company is now offering basically free airfare, as long as you buy one of its bucket list itineraries of up to 15 days across multiple cities in Europe.

Just know that the $1 roundtrip flights are only out of New York, New Jersey, Chicago and Washington D.C. to London’s Heathrow airport. Also, you only have until January 31st to book.

Therefore, I highly recommended you take advantage of Contiki’s 13-day adventure from London to Berlin. It includes plenty of sightseeing tours, a stop in Paris to head up the Montparnasse Tower — an underrated spot that I think has the best views of the Eiffel Tower — and so much more. In total, this particular trip costs $2,582 with March 14th to the 26th as the only dates available.

Did that over $2,000 price tag deter you from your European getaway? If you break the number down, it actually only comes out to be around $199 per day. When you think about it that way, it doesn’t seem so bad, as all accommodations and some meals will be taken care of.

While it’s certainly possible to create a cheaper itinerary on your own — especially considering roundtrip tickets in March from New York to London are as low as $343 — what you’re really paying for with Contiki is convenience.

The average price of hotels in London is around $224 a night, and don’t even get me started on how much it costs to eat out in Paris. All in all, you may be better off paying a big amount upfront and letting the travel professionals take care of the rest.
