UPDATE: Chipotle has extended their free guacamole deal through August 1st.
This Tuesday, July 31st, Chipotle is giving away a free order of guacamole (either as an add-on to their meal or as an individual order of guac and chips) to all customers who purchase a meal through their app or online and enter the code "AVOCADO" at check-out. The promotion is meant to celebrate National Avocado Day, which is fitting since (unlike some other fast food chains) Chipotle actually uses fresh avocados when making their guacamole.
Here at Slickdeals, we're of the opinion that free food is almost always a great value. Now, some Slickdealers like downwithcville have pointed out that other restaurants like Qdoba offer free guac every day. While that's definitely a valid point, more people have access to Chipotle, and this is a solid deal if you don't have a Qdoba in your neighborhood.
Since this offer doesn't stack with any other coupons or promotions (and there's a limit of one per customer), you'll have to get a little creative to get the most out of this deal. So it's worth noting that there can be a difference between getting your free guacamole as an add-on or as a separate order. Separate orders tend to have slightly more guacamole as opposed to the single scoop provided with the add-on. They also come with tortilla chips. Overall, getting your guac as a separate order is the best way to maximize your value. Be warned though: some customers have reported that the promo code was invalid when ordering guac as a side, so your mileage may vary.

This is pretty clearly a push to get people to sign up for the Chipotle app or make an online account with the restaurant. But if you eat at Chipotle regularly, it's likely you'll benefit from joining. In addition to promos and exclusive discounts (including the occasional free burrito), customers who order through the app or online don't have to wait in line when they pick up their food. If you're in a rush during your lunch break, it can be a real time saver.
If you don't have any plans for lunch and a craving for a burrito the size of your head, you should definitely check out Chipotle's free guacamole deal for National Avocado Day.
