Getting to your New York City destination from LaGuardia airport just got a lot cheaper.
On November 14th, Via and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced the creation of LGA Connect, a flat-rate rideshare service offering transportation from LaGuardia to New York City’s five boroughs. It’ll cost just $15 to ride from LaGuardia to Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Queens, while rides to Staten Island or the Bronx are $20.
How to Catch a $15 LGA Connect Ride From LaGuardia to NYC
You can book an LGA Connect ride seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. using the Via app for iOS or Android. Alternatively, dispatchers located at a designated “LGA Connect” pickup point outside of Terminal C/D can help you book your ride.
In the Via app, just choose “LGA Connect” and enter your destination. The app will match you with other passengers going in the same direction, and your ride should leave the airport within 10 minutes of booking. You’ll then be dropped off within walking distance of your final destination.
Like Uber and Lyft, Via is a rideshare app. However, its rates are lower because Via only operates multi-passenger rides. In comparison, Lyft would charge about $45 for a similar ride from LGA to Brooklyn or $32 to Manhattan. A trip to the Bronx or Staten Island would run around $35, while it’s $17 to get to Queens. And Uber’s pricing is similar. As for taxi service, you’ll pay a metered rate based on the distance of your destination from LaGuardia.
Clearly, LGA Connect offers the best price, by far, on rideshares from LaGuardia to any of the five boroughs. Sure, you may have to ride with a stranger, but the savings are pretty compelling. If you’re flying into LaGuardia on your next NYC getaway, LGA Connect is definitely something to consider. No end date for this promotion has been announced.
