Starting now, you don’t have to share your Spotify account with your children. The company has created a fun, standalone app with over 8,000 songs, playlists and stories to keep your kids entertained — worry-free and ad-free. This means your algorithm will no longer be tainted if your kid decides to, say, listen to Imagine Dragons’ “Bad Liar” on repeat for hours during a long car trip.

Last October, Spotify launched its separate kids app for beta testing in Ireland and now it is fully available in the U.S., Canada and France. Considering Spotify was in hot water a few weeks ago for playing a horror ad in the middle of children’s songs, the kids app couldn’t launch fast enough.

The best part is that if you already have a Spotify Premium Family account, you can add a free kid (or more) to your account. You don’t have to pay anything extra. If you don’t have a Spotify account, you can sign up for the $14.99 a month Premium Family plan and have access to up to six accounts and any or all can be kid accounts.

If you’re interested in trying Spotify Kids, you get a free month of Spotify Premium Family when you sign up.

Why is Spotify Kids its own app with a unique design? The experience is meant to be an entertaining and unique one for kids. Music selections are hand-picked by Spotify’s editors to be family-friendly. Parents can rest easy knowing their kids will not stumble across any explicit content.

Ultimately, you have full control of your child’s music account and can decide what they hear or don’t hear. You can also create and switch between tracks for younger and older children. There’s even an option to make different soundtracks play at different times of the day to keep boredom at bay.
