Dell Outlet sale: Alienware Alpha $249 + tax shipped

Dell outlet is having another one of their sales. Just snagged an alienware alpha base model for $249. It goes in and out of stock so keep looking.

http://outlet.us.dell.com/ArbOnli...pHEtZZ0%3d

Processor: Intel Core 4th Generation i3-4130T Processor (Dual Core, 3M Cache, 2.9 GHz,35W)
Windows 10 Home 64bit English
500 GB SATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
4GB DDR3L 1600MHz (1x4GB)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX GPU 2GB GDDR5

Looks like this was front page back in June for $50 more and WITHOUT windows 10 (only steam OS). To me, seems like a much sweeter deal. Higher end models are also available for pretty good prices. Let me know what you guys think.

My local walmart had 2 of these for $200. I was waiting for them to crack into the hundred range. Then they both disappeared. Frown

Yeah, like I said stock comes and goes but that's how Dell outlet works. I just had to be patient. For $266 shipped after tax, it was definitely worth.

Also updated with the link, thanks

From the reviews, the gpu on the first gen is equivalent to the gtx 750 ti. The second has a gtx 960 so you can base your gaming expectations from these. Overall not bad for the price, in my opinion

Guess the haters don't want to listen about how the stock fluctuates and just want to TD. Oh well, I tried to share. I got mine already...

I think its a great deal and best for the living room PC "console." Although gamestop has it for $225 and that's the lowest practical deal (micro centers just for a few of us). Gamestop is also out of stock and will depend on location. I bought like 3 of these at the time for $300.. and not regret it (upgrade to SSD, +4Gb RAM for about 100 dollars more). And I do not believe Dell will be foolish enough to mass produce another batch. This was a complete failure for them but a win for consumers. This will pretty much be as good of a deal ever.. with the R2 and the future upgrades not to be sold as low as these. We are moving forward to the Pascal/Polaris so that will be the next step. Until then these are great for 80-90% of the games out there.. and unless one has a 4k T.V. otherwise these are perfect for 1080. My sister was impressed with "Ori and the Blind Forest" when I played it on the screen in the living room. If raw power is the metric people evaluate products, then this is not it. But if presentation (in the house) matters, then this is the perfect PC console.

I agree. I did the same thing (ssd + 4gb ram upgrade) and it flies. I actually feel that $249 from dell was as good, if not better, of a deal. For $25 more I got windows 10. Sure there are more unscrupulous ways of getting it, but in this case you really can't beat that. One thing that would have been good about the gamestop model was the free xbox controller, but that barely beats in the alienware keyboard and mouse that came with mine.

I ended up installing Steam OS just to see how it would be but I ended up uninstalling in favor of sticking to a dedicated windows 10 setup with the steam application installed separately. So far so good. I put in kodi as well as a few choice steam games to play with my son (terraria, don't starve, crazy taxi) as well as kodi.

My only gripe with it is that it can only support one monitor/tv but really for about $310 after upgrades, I really can't complain.

I think the gamestop version actually came with a steam controller. For many people that was a negative. The op of this thread seems to be the only one that was able to snag the dell version of the steam machine at the $249 price. The gamestop deal really was killer. I wonder if any retailer has any of these left to clear out?

Well I was the OP, and I actually got one for me, one as a backup, and know a couple friends in real life I told who ended up getting it. Really sad that the negative people on here prevented others from getting the deal but that's SD for ya.

What's the difference between the steam controller and the xbox controller? I actually hooked an xbox 360 controller to mine.
