For those that missed out on the T-mobile deal. I'm not sure if it comes with a warranty or not, selle has high feedback rating.

With the latest versions of this router from T-Mobile that are shipping, more likely than not, it will have an updated firmware version preventing one from making any modifications.
They have changed the timing and disabled the blinking LED, along with the standard process to enter Restore mode.

A lot of guides are outdated in the intial steps...
A guide by Stratuscaster is by far the best, though also outdated to downgrade the firmware; if your router does not have the option to enable SHH, follow my updated steps.

If this is your first time, all of this information will look complex and overwhelming, but it is not and I have made things as simple as possible in my steps.

Find his guide here: https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=92917711
A. Download and read all of the files in the list in STEP 0
B. Follows my steps
C. Then continue with STEP 3 in HIS guide. Here we go...

STEP 1: CHECKING ROUTER'S FIRMWARE
** If the T-Mobile router's firmware is 3.0.0.4.376_3169 or below, you might have access to SSH/TELNET
- Open the router's admin page: 192.168.29.1 in a web browser
Administration > System > Enable SSH Apply Settings.

- Skip to STEP 3 if you have this, if not continue with STEP 2.

STEP 2: DOWNGRADING THE FIRMWARE - This is essential in order to enable SSH and give the ability to change the firmware
** If the firmware is above the previously mentioned firmware number, you will NOT have SSH
- Plug in ethernet cable directly from computer to the router's LAN 1 port.
- Set computer's IP address manually to:
192.168.29.2
Mask: 255.255.255.0
DNS: 192.168.29.1
- Make sure you are able to PING the router at 192.168.29.1, then power off router.

If you are not familiar with the ping command, press Windows + R, then type cmd and then press ENTER
Type the following in the command prompt:
ping 192.168.29.1
You should be getting a response. If it times out, check your cables and verify the IP address on the computer

- Open a web browser and add 192.168.29.1 into the address bar, do NOT press Enter yet.
- Press and HOLD the RESET button on the back of the router, turn the router ON and after 5 seconds hit ENTER on the address in the web browser. If the page does not load, keep pressing Refresh.
- Release the RESET button once you arrive at the ASUS miniCFE screen…
- Upload the the T-Mobile 3.0.0.4_376_1703 .TRX file
- Wait 5 mins.

- Power OFF the router and redo the process to load the ASUS miniCFE screen.
- Click on the NVRAM REBOOT/RESET button and wait 5 mins.
- Turn router OFF and ON and check that the firmware (192.168.29.1 page) has been downgraded. Might need to reboot twice.
- Now you may ENABLE SHH from STEP 1.

STEP 3: UPDATING THE CFE FILE - This will give the router the ability to finally change the firmware
- Launch PUTTY
- Connect to Hostname: 192.168.29.1
- Login credentials: admin / password - YES or OK to any prompts that appear.
- Launch WINSCP: process same as above

- PUTTY: enter the command to back up the existing CFE:
cat /dev/mtd0 > original_cfe.bin
The above is making a copy of the CFE/bootloader file in which we will work with.

- WINSCP: Refresh the screen and you should be able to view the .bin file we just created.
- Drag the file to the left side to a location on your computer, preferably the location where you extracted the ASUS folder or create a new one on your Desktop.

- Go to: https://cfeditor.pipeline.sh
- Here you will upload the .bin file that you retrieved, to 'Original CFE'
- Choose 1.0.2.0 US for the 'Source CFE'
- Information will now populate the page with stats from the original file and the new one to be created.
- It is optional if you want to enable MAX Output TX power and the all region wireless channels
Note: for the channels, different regions are allowed a different set/availability due to laws and regulations; you are held accountable if you go this route and operate your router on a channel not authorized in North America.
- Download the Target CFE file.

- Rename the new file to:
new_cfe.bin

- WINSCP: drag the mtd-write file and the new_cfe.bin file onto the right-most pane and Refresh

- PUTTY: double check files are indeed in the right place
ls -l
Should look like this:
admin@(none):/tmp/home/root# ls -l
-rwxr--r-- 1 admin root 523364 Nov 4 2014 mtd-write
-rw-r--r-- 1 admin root 231923 Nov 27 14:32 new_cfe.bin
-rw-rw-rw- 1 admin root 524288 Nov 27 11:20 original_cfe.bin

- Make the mtd-write file, executable
chmod +x mtd-write

- Now replace/update the CFE file:
./mtd-write -i new_cfe.bin -d boot
- When the prompt returns, reboot the router with the following command
reboot

- Check the CFE version, it should read 1.0.2.0
nvram get bl_version
- If the CFE version does not match, power the router OFF and ON again, then re-check.

Now follow the original guide by Stratuscaster step by step beginning at STEP 3 in it.
Also, credit should be going out to him.

Which doesn't mean anything on eBay. Everyone just files a NASD anyways for free shipping.

Mine has been stable for months now on the stock firmware... Great speeds, great signal distance and strength compared to my previous Netgear R6300

Paypal pays return shipping actually.... Check it out. Very painless also if using ebay shipping, print paypal shipping email to pdf & attach to claim! No idea what NASD is, what a great abbreviation that you can't even lookup...

I bought this few days ago, came in a plastic bag with bubble wrap but everything looked new as if they discarded the cardboard box and bubble wrapped everything for cheaper shipping.
