I think it may finally be time to upgrade the two lifetime Tivo HDs in the house . They are over 10 years old and getting flaky.

Thoughts?

Hmm, wonder if my series 2 Toshiba Tivo, which came with lifetime basic service, qualifies

I did fire it up and connect service a few months ago. Looks like you have to receive an email with a promo code from Tivo. I haven't received one (I also have an HD Tivo with lifetime service...so I'd think at least THAT box would qualify). I emailed them asking about the promo...we'll see!

I received the e-mail from TiVo as well and while it seems like a decent deal, my HD TiVo is currently unplugged. It's a great idea whose glory days have passed, at least for me (I use a Windows 10 HTPC with adblockers instead). Perhaps a current Bolt owner could convince me otherwise. Smilie

Sadly not good on the many old Tivo 2 boxes I have that haven't connected to the mothership in a long time...

I already have the Bolt but at this price it would be worth it to buy another just to get the lifetime deal.

But I don't know when I last had my S3 with lifetime plugged in....the promo code seems to work regardless, I wonder at what point I find out if my S3 was active during the required time frame.

Wish this was available for Premiere/Premiere4 generation... the year that came with my original Bolt expired in January and instead of renewing it, I moved back to a lifetime Premiere4. Now I'm contemplating going HDHomeRun Prime + Plex DVR for recording and the Xfinity Roku app for live.

Yeeeeah... that would be pretty bad, since I'm assuming you charged the buyer a premium for that lifetime service. It would have been up to you to transfer it to the buyers name at the time.

Hmm... I have an old HD here. Still works, but this might not be a bad time to upgrade it. I already had to replace its power supply once.

Besides the extra HD space and I assume quicker interface, any other benefits from the Bolt? Current Bolt owners like their machines?

I wonder if this is limited to only one per TIVO account. Wonder if we all have the same activation code or if the one I received is only good one time. I have three active lifetime TIVO's and one inactive series 2 that now will not qualify. Guess I may need to wait until tomorrow when I can call them/

Commercial skipping if you watch mainstream shows. Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon streaming. Easy hard drive upgrades.

Unique codes, once used, it is dead. Also, you must have a Tivo that meets the terms currently on your account and it must have dialed home for this to work.

Thanks.....I have three that should qualify and my series 2 should not because it has been useless so it has not dialed in for over a year or two.
