Would the 2.5 firecuda be a good drive even for desktop gaming storage? The 3.5 actually costs more.

If you want to increase speeds as much as possible and increase your battery life, just go with a SSD. I imagine they're also less likely to break if you drop your laptop. Going from a HDD to a SSD is probably one of the biggest improvements I've seen in using a computer.
