I think it's a great deal, $60 off on the 64GB and $45 off on the 32 GB, why the TD?

Amazing pricing for a good smartphone. I really like Motorola even though I haven't found a great successor to the Moto X 2013 yet in terms of features, specs, and size. Only thing I'm hesitant on is the fact that it's been modified by Amazon...anyone else a little wary of possible tracking software installed in these modified phones, given the current climate in the US government? Will wait and see if someone can find a way to disable the ads. Otherwise it's a toss up for me between this and a good deal on the Moto Z Play

I share your concern, but my fear is of the Chinese Govt, not the US. Moto isn't a US company any more, it's a Chinese company owned by Lenovo. That scares me much more than the US Govt.

Does the "non Amazon ad" version (which is the same price) include Amazon modifications?

get mine today, I've been using the Moto play since December and really don't find the ads intrusive. I trashed the widget on the home page and the only one I see is the lockscreen which is gone with a swipe when I open my phone.

Same here. Ordered one and set it up for my mom. The ads are NOT intrusive at all. You quickly swipe it away. Also, the fingerprint reader makes it almost unnoticeable, and faster to unlock than my Galaxy S7!

Why is this getting thumbs down? When the Moto G4 came out with the Amazon ads for $150 and for a few days they had it for $125 it was a very popular deal for the 16GB w/2GB RAM this Moto G5 is a much better phone. My sister got the G4 deal and had a few software problems so under warranty she sent it in to Motorola and they send her the same phone back but they loaded on the ad free stock ROM so I'm pretty sure it's only a matter of time until XDA figures out how to load the stock ROM on. Thumbs up OP!

It's not the same price as the ad version. No, the non-ad version is the exact same version you'd buy directly from Motorola with no ads..
